defender of truth one other point.

This is a quote from the 1975 Watchtower publication Man's Salvation Out of World Distress At Hand page 48

'In the face of the relatively small proportion of the world's population that has put faith in the "thing heard [from] us" or proclaimed by us it can be truthfully be said: "They did not all obey the good news."'

This is referring to what the apostle Paul wrote in Romans 10:16,17 and the apostle wasn't talking about what Jehovah's Witnesses are proclaiming as mentioned in the preceding sentences.

The overwhelming evidence that has accumulated since 1914 CE in proof of this glorious fact has been pointed out by these witnesses of Jehovah. The good news about the Messianic kingdom of Jehovah's "Servant" is better news today that it was nineteen hundred years ago, in apostolic times.'

Commenting on Hebrews 11:1 The Insight on the Scriptures 1988 published by the Watchtower says this under the heading faith

"Assured expectation translates the Greek word Hy po sta sis. This term is common in ancient papyrus business documents. It conveys the idea of something that underlies visible conditions and guarantees a future possession . In view of this, Moulton and Milligan suggest the rendering: "Faith is the title deed of things hoped for."

    Awake! 1969 May 22 p.15

"If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things. Why not? Because all the evidence in fulfillment of Bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years. Of the generation that observed the beginning of the "last days" in 1914. Jesus foretold: "This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur."-Matt.. 24:34.

Therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers. If you are in high school and thinking about a college education, it means at least four, perhaps even six or eight more years to graduate into a specialized career. But where will this system of things be by that time? It will be well on the way toward its finish, if not actually gone!"

I was a young person then and I had faith.

    Watchtower 1989 January 1 p.12
"He was laying a foundation for a work that would be completed in our 20th century."
(The 1989 Watchtower used the term "in our 20th century" in the magazine, but this was changed to "in our day" for the bound volume and subsequent CD library.

"...we don't have to guess what the year 1975 means if we read the Watchtower. ...And don't wait 'till 1975. The door is going to be shut before then....As one brother put it, "Stay alive to Seventy-Five..."---- Wisconsin Sheboygan District Overseer Brother Charles Sinutko 1967.

"Reports are heard of brothers selling their homes and property and planning to finish out the rest of their days in this old system in the pioneer service. Certainly this is a fine way to spend the short time remaining before the wicked world's end."----Kingdom Ministry May 1974 p.3

    EDIT to add:

    Awake! 1969 May 22 p.15

"If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things. Why not? Defender of the Truth

This world is made of Conjecture, theory, and hypothesis when it comes to the unknown past. You will never win a debate here in the JWN community. The perception is always to backlash the Truth no matter how painful it might be to hear. Even when the JWN community member is clearly wrong like Outlaw his people will turn around in a split second and condemn the other as being deceptive. Even the soft hearted will come back with an extreme answer. Concentrate only on real issues that might interest you. Consider this thought: There is a big difference between a Levite and a Priest, just as there is a big difference between and ISRAEL of Old with Jewish Israel of today, but people still thinks of them the same. The JWN community is not really looking for truthful answer they just want to replace wisdom with hate. So don’t be discouraged and continue your good works. A Lutheran Christian once advised me that it world be impossible for that person to ever consider being Catholic. My reply was, where do you think the Lutherans come from. The separation of movements is not acknowledged here unfortunately. The JWN community has a strong pledge to use Guilt by Association very profoundly, but only to the JW class. They don’t care about what else evolves around them as long as the community can take cheap shot at the WTS that’s all that matters. So to continue here you must adhere to the masters and accept their truth.

As stated to DD earlier, there are no clear answers unless you profess to be Christ. Wisdom is a virtue not as sin. Compassion would probably go further than hate. Those of you that profess to acknowledge God within your religion would know the reasoning.

Now you can ridicule my post all you want.

Hello heavensgate, after 9 posts and 9 days of being registered you seem to have a lot to say about the JWN community, and even name OUTLAW. Have you been reading for a while?

What exactly is your background heavensgate? Are you an active JW?

heavensgate, persoanlly I have come to this site to get support and help ones suffering in the same way I am suffering. If there are any who wish to defend the Organisation like DOT, I am not hateful I just state what I disagree with. In your post you make sweeping generalisations about posters on JWN.

Infact we are all different and all have unique qualities. Start a thread and tell us your story, why are you visiting this site what do you hope to gain from visiting and posting?

    Take care love Kate xx

The "Leaders" of the WTBTS were totally stoked for 1975. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. They hyped it for all that it was worth, and it can be proven in one incredibly irresponsible statement.

"Yes, since the summer of 1973 there have been new peaks in pioneers every month. Now there are 20,394 regular and special pioneers in the United States, an all-time peak. That is 5,190 more than there were in February 1973! A 34-percent increase! Does that not warm our hearts? Reports are heard of brothers selling their homes and property and planning to finish out the rest of their days in this old system in the pioneer service. Certainly this is a fine way to spend the short time remaining before the wicked world's end." Kingdom Ministry May 1974 p.3 How Are You Using Your Life?

Responsible persons who did not believe in their hearts that " they nailed it!", would not have encouraged this behavior. Being the "leaders" of the WTBTS and having a "special relationship" with the rank&file, the GB could have nipped that foolish behavior in the bud. One simple paragraph or article about being shrewd would have been enough. A simple, " Brothers, we are hearing reports of homes being sold, jobs being left, retirement funds being spent. Why? Many are under the expectation that 1975 will be the end of this old world. Remember, we do not know the day or the hour, or even the year. That is not for us to know. We should just continue to serve God with conviction, come what may. He will decide when the end will be. Speculation on our part would only bring reproach on God's great name, and cause needless hardships for our brothers."

Anything similar would have sufficed. Instead this was the thinking promoted by the "leaders", not the rank and file.

One thing is absolutely certain, Bible chronology reinforced with fulfilled Bible prophecy shows that six thousand years of man's existence will soon be up, yes, within this generation! (Matt. 24:34) This is, therefore, no time to be indifferent and complacent. This is not the time to be toying with the words of Jesus that "concerning that day and hour nobody knows , neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father." (Matt. 24:36) To the contrary, it is a time when one should be keenly aware that the end of this system of things is rapidly coming to its violent end." Watchtower 1968 Aug 15 p.494 Why Are You Looking Forward to 1975?

What was there to look forward to, except the speculations and faulty interpretations of the Governing Body? I guess Jehovah allowed them to make false interpretations..

Sarah:"Defender of Truth Why would God need to publish magazines when all scriptures are from God?"

To aid those with limited time, patience, and Bible understanding to develop a thirst for Gods Word. And, in the case of those who read the Bible, the Watchtower to stimulate thought on Biblical matters that they may otherwise not discuss at the door or with their church group. They are like a bait to draw people in to studying the Bible and coming to an accurate knowledge of God.

D.O.T. your reponse to Sarah implies that God isn't a good author, that he couldn't do a good enough job of writing the bible so that it would be easy for all to understand without the aid of fallible uninspired commentaries written by other men, that he couldn't produce a collection of books interesting enough on their own to draw people to read and study them and come to an accurate knowledge of God.

Don't you think it's patently foolish and self-defeating for the allwise Creator of all the universe to inspire the writing of a doctrinally perfect and inerrant book only to have its intended readership be dependent on a fallible organization headed by imperfect men to feed them fallible, ever-changing understandings of what the book means? Why write a perfect book and undermine the benefit of its perfection by having people give unquestioning acceptance to the imperfect interpretations of it by men?

Furthermore, why would God use his spirit to direct an organization if he is still going to let the organization teach error? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of directing them with his spirit? Just listen to the stupidity you would have us believe:

The perfect allwise God used his spirit to direct men to make a collection of inerrant books only to later require all to look to an imperfect organization said to be directed by his spirit but which still gives an imperfect erroneous understanding of the books.

Let me illustrate it this way for you:

A genious invents a machine that perfectly cures cancer and writes an exhaustive and inerrant manual on how to operate the machine and service it. Every hospital can purchase the machine and the manual is available for all to purchase and read. But the genious later appoints one hospital in all the world as the sole authorized agents for explaining the manual - despite the fact that this hospital has a history of misunderstanding the manual and continues to misunderstand it, with dire consequences to patients. The chosen hospital then writes a series of imperfect, always being revised, study-aids meant to explain the timeless, exhaustive and inerrant manual written by the genious. Now everyone has to believe that they can't understand the perfectly written, timeless manual made by the genious without accepting the erroneous, always being updated volumes of study-aids written by the one hospital. How crazy is that?!
