So correct me if I'm wrong; (any fellow Witnesses reading this)

It's definitely going against Jehovah if we talk/socialise with a disfellowshipped family member - yes?

But, we definitely ain't going against Jehovah if we talk/socialise with a disfellowshipped family member who still lives at home - yes?

Great!!! Now Brother, if you could just show me the Scriptures which reveal the truth about the loopholes in this two-tier discipline, it will really put my mind at ease.

emotional blackmail! OMG this is so scary. This is an excellent video and I will be making usre it is available to be seen on my closely guarded watch list so if my husband sees it, he might look at it. I keep all " apostate" type sites off of there so he isn't alarmed.

This one however, is SO well done.

    Great work Cedars.

The perverse reasoning that the DFd person caused the breach in family relationships is a pernicious lie.

“…you need a heart of stone to give a talk like this.”

And, I’ll add, a brain that’s been thoroughly programmed by religionists pushing an egocentric agenda.

    Thanks.

PS: We need to get our hands on a copy of this convention talk outline. Anyone have it?

It's surprising he acknowledged that many want to get reinstated simply to associate with family and friends.

It's also strange they keep saying "the disfellowshipped person left Jehovah." Did King David "leave" Jehovah when he had sex with Bathsheba? There's absolutely nothing in the Bible to support such a viewpoint. The WTBTS just hammers this false and manipulative rhetoric to keep the R&F in-line.

The last straw for me was the ridiculous, "Thank you for being loyal to Jehovah (by shunning me)," comment a reinstated person might hypothetically make. I can't imagine anyone ever saying that.

It takes a mentally diseased person to go through with delivering a talk such as that one.

These talks make me really want to walk up to one of these guys and punch them in the God damned face. I must say that although I served as an elder for about 7 years I never wanted to df anyone. I made other elders dislike me... I had people confess things to me and I purposely made sure it went no further because I always feelt, "Hey, Jehovah must have a heart."

I have no idea how someone could get this talk out and practice it over and over and not say, "WTF am I going to do?" This is really and truly disgusting. They actually verbalize all the things about the disfellowshipping process that we all knew but never want to acknowledge: people returning because they want their families not for love of God. That it is emotional black mail etc...

Not only is the talk disgusting, but how many JWs realize that the scriptures he read were words spoken by Christ Jesus, NOT JEHOVAH. The verses are Jesus speaking and the scriptures read are about confessing HIM. NOT about any disfellowshipped or even former members of the JW sect, or any relgious organization or Jehovah. The guy giving the talk should be ashamed of himself instead of coming accross as an arrogant ass. My heart goes out to all the df'd JWs both young and old that attended the WT convetion. I can oly imagine what they felt like. Thank you Cedars for sharing!

    peace,

From the way he gave this talk, it would appear that Steven Bell has his sights on being the next governing body member... he seemed to enjoy giving this cultish loyalty talk... he even makes fun of non-JWs who question the WT's disfellowshipping policies...

    It's a chilling thought isn't it.

You might be interested to know that GB member Guy Pierce was in attendance at this convention, so likely Steven was out to impress.
