What a typical experience in dealing with the Talmudic Watchtower Society. Having served on many judicial committees during the confusing "Shifting Sex Rules of the Seventies" period I find this situation hard to believe (not of your account but the current mindset of elders re: grounds for divorce)

I think that this weasel has sampled the goods for a couple of years and found a self righteous way out.

And this is after the Prodigal Son video where David™ sobs after hooking up with a Worldly™ girl from work and begs Jehovah to forgive him.

And the Elders™ don't DF him. Because he cried like a little b*tch. I bet whats-her-name wore a thong too.

Only in JW land do unmarried males cry in guilt and shame after losing their virginity.

So i Have the exact info from what happened and exactly what the elders said:

a: She was baptized at 16. Went to college and while thereshe met a guy. She stopped going to the meeting. She had multiple episodes with the guy but all kissing and heavy petting(petting... such an old word). Then one day it went further. He rubbed her bare breasts and she put her hands in his pants. She stroked his penis and he almost had a happy ending. She said all the noise he made etc made her think she should stop. She did. Ran home crying.

    b. Next day she ended it. She then that day decided to return to hall. Prayed to Jehovah and vowed to never do it again. Started attending meetings again stayed on the positive track.

    c. A few years later she meets my friend at the hall. They get along well and start dating. They get engaged and married.

    d. After a couple years she decides to pioneer. She submits app and gets accepted. She listens to a talk about secret sins and remembers what she did and decides to tell her husband because she WONDERS IF SHE SHOULD GO TO THE BROTHERS.

    e. He is not upset and says it happened before me and so long ago, they will understand(ROFLROFLROFL). They don't. They tell her that she concealed it and never told her potential mate that she had committed a sin and kept it secret. So in essence he decided to marry someone who had committed fornication and never repented officially. This nullifies the marriage bond.

    f. He is mad because as she recitied to him what happened he asked her if she enjoyed it and she said she did. (I would think that any normal person would)

So in essence his pride was hurt so he took the elders out on this. I still have never heard of this happening before and the reasoning is ass backwards.

I've never in my life heard of this being a rule. Watch, the Elders will contact Bethel and Bethel will tell the Elders they are actually wrong. Now, the guys "thinking" is corrected, he has to go crawling back to his wife but by this time she will probably be repulsed by him...

Tell the guy to contact Bethel to make sure of this rule. I think the Elders are saying what they think and they are actually wrong...

cognac - what I see is that my friend god knows I love him is actually insecure.

He told me on the phone the following, "Why will I stay with her? She will remember his penis is bigger then mine and leave me??? I don't need to worry about that the rest of my life."

I was dead silent... I see he has things internally that make him feel that he needs out. You may be right. I have never heard anything like this ever and if he leaves her he will have his life in a shambles

The elders are 100% wrong even by their own stupid rules. The branch office will go ballistic.

Tell your friend to grow up, get back to his wife tonight and tell the elders to F### off

It has never been a rule. Lets not forget, they make it up this crap up as they go along. It's all about male secret fantasy. You know an available attractive sister on the back burner, just incase. Seen it before. A sister in a cong. I attended, divorces her husband, and NOT on script. grounds and does NOT even get reproved for her actions. In fact she is alluded to a pillar of the cong. This is sick and twisted thinking, but yet it appears to be in writing. Lap dance?? really!!! grounds for divorce!!! Omg Next in line for divorce is watching PORN. This madness will never end. It is totally out of control! Oh EXCUSE me I forgot, It is all about CONTROLL!!!!! Affectionately: Brother of the Hawk ( I will surrender my mind no more, forever)

I know of scriptural grounds being given because of the husband touching the private parts of another woman during the separation. It was considered porneia. Don't get me wrong, I was happy this miserable couple could move forward into new lives, but touching means adultery? I asked several elders about it and they just shrugged their shoulders and didn't say anything because they could not provide the scriptural support.

They absolutely make it up as they go along. What happened to your friend would not necessarily happen in another congregation.

In 1977=78 we had to ask the precise question as to what happened when Sis. X touched Bro. Z's unit. Did he ejaculate, anything come out? If so, then the two innocent mates had grounds for ScripDiv. If not, then there were no grounds. It got even more ridiculous, but I have written about it here before. There were more than a couple of us on the JC who were beggining to wonder what the hell was going on with all this new light.

I was titillated by a bumpy bus ride once. Should I have confessed this to my future husband?
