Weird ... and WOW ... so where was Jesus in all of this, He is capable of forgiving ALL of our sins ... if she was a Christians she should have known that in Christ she is a new person and her past was her past ...

Dagney - "They absolutely make it up as they go along."

And with the "brazen conduct" thing, it's even easier, now.

I do know however that if a brother who is married goes to a strip club and pays for a lap dance it is considered adultery. This was told to us by our instructor at the week long elders school.

I seriously doubt that. That's waaaayyy too easy to get rid of your wife, especially if you don't want to go through all that trouble of having an affair.

I agree with Diana, why would she want him, if all this comes out as being in error on edict from the Branch, and he finds out he can't get remarried. He is an ass. Poor woman, she tries to do 'the right thing' JW style, by pioneering, gets a lecture about secret sins and starts feeling guilty about something that happen years earlier. She confesses, they make her feel like crap and poison her pathetic husband's mind against her.

    To him: Good riddence, jerk.

To her: Have a happy, wonderful life. Find your old college boyfriend and make up for lost time.

I understand that your friend feels betrayed but I would look at it as something she did before being together. As long as she didn't fool around on me once we were together then nothing should impede the "happily ever after."

It's really interesting though that he only considered the divorce until they suggested it to him and what's worse is that he is giving up on someone who might really love him. All because of the all-star elders..

If this s a new rule, I can see a lot of married jw's being allowed to get a scriptural divorce... That will solve the huge problem amoung many of my jw friends who are stuck in unhappy marriages coz they married too young for all the wrong reasons...

    Except...

...any time one of these theoretical "scripturally free" divorces takes place, everyone else in the congregation will assume that either A) conventional adultery took place or B) (assuming they know about the new rule) one or both divorcees secretly had sex prior to marriage, and the conjecture and gossip mill will kick into overdrive.

This woman should count her lucky stars and use this craziness to get away from her husband & this crazy cult now. Truth be told, he got her to tell him all the details, found out he is much smaller than the other guy, and jealousy is driving this insane consideration.

This is such bull$hit it's ridiculous. This is NOT grounds for a scriptural divorce. He didn't even KNOW his wife when she did this with somebody else. It's nobody's business what this woman did with any other man before she knew her husband. Not her husband's business to know the details and not the elders business either. It's absolute poo-poo. If the truth was known I bet those elders sitting in on her committee watch porn or have some " secret sins " themselves. Such godamned hypocrites. Your friend is an a$$hole too to hold that against his wife. An idiot actually. All these people need to get a clue
