Folks, I'm an accountant and I have had a fair amount of experience in handling confidential material and keeping it secure. This apparenlty can't be repeated too many times:

ALWAYS ASSUME THAT ANYTHING YOU PUT ON THE INTERNET, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: YOUR REAL IDENTITY, YOUR LOCATION, YOUR FINANCIAL INFORMATION, YOUR RELATIVES, YOUR PERSONAL HISTORY, YOUR RELATIONSHIPS WILL NOT REMAIN SECRET FOR LONG.
You gave out your email to someone who also was on JWN, then opened an attachment from them? How exactly was JWN supposed to protect you from that? This is a public forum, everyone knows, or should know, that anything posted here can be read by anyone and that you should be very careful who you give your email address to. Attachments are always suspect, even if you know the sender.
That is like meeting someone in a bar, giving them your address, then opening the door to them when they show up at your house. If they then Rob you, is it the fault of the bar?

No it is not the fault of JWN. It is the inexperience and naivete of the individual user. However, blame is an easy thing to cast out as we have seen the past 3 weeks.
Yes, it's always easy to point fingers and make accusations and when they are not just wild-and-whacky then it's important to respond and answer them. I'm not hiding anything (other than my secret porn collection*) so don't expect we'll still be talking about this in 3 weeks time (que 'bump' posts in 3 weeks time).

A few years ago, I uploaded a picture file. It contained my name, registered on my computer. . . But rather than PM me, a member went and POSTED the info from the file which contained my name. . . But I didn't blame the board for that, I blamed the member who acted so stupidly.

That's what the cynic in me thought but I don't want to dismis anyone in case they are genuine with valid concerns and even if they are not, it's worth answering.
The fact that they began with quoting "What matters is the AAWA group and THEY are 100% responsible for everything that happend with that group" does make me wonder at the motive for this though.

OK I introduced the chocolate cake defense thread that was here some time ago, in comparing the AAWA to the GB. I never attempted to slam Barbara with that thread. Someone else then posted Duncans great thread, but again, I see no refernce to Barbara, or her reputation.
I declare BS on this complaint. A thinly veiled attempt to discredit Simon and his far superior methods of descretion and privacy over the AAWA fiasco, by creating a scenario of Simon's complacency to security concerns.
What is the name of the court case you are involved in? It's not outing you as that information is public.
