  Isn't that what JW's are? That's all I aver here from JW's at the meetings or anywhere else, them bashing everyone else. That is all they have because their product is no good and they should keep their nose out of other peoples familly affairs. Bussy bodies are listed in the bible along with murderers.

  And, if like you said that you only read their printed material, that you are in fact not a witness, can you tell us where exactly you read that quote about 1975 please? Page/title/publication date will be just fine. Thanks in advance.

  'The 1975 thing was just a rumor started by a congregant and not even sanctioned by the GB,' is a common phrase used by the witnesses these days. I've heard this line more than once by older witnesses who know better but can't face reality of their religion. Sad.

  It is sad they can't face the truth. I remember when I was studying with the Witnesses and my husband said they had proclaimed the end so I checked with at least one long time Witness. I remember she said it was a rumor. It was the same sister who said that that later said she was sorry for her many sins and I thought (because she was a religious person even before she became a JW) that's ridiculous. But now I know she might have been referring to lying. She lied to me. Lying is from the devil.

  I hate to bump this thread again, but once truth seeker can post again i hope he answers my question:

  He asked if any here were witnesses. I admitted that i am indeed a witness and an elder at that. Now that he/she has that knowledge....what to do with it... And more importantly... Why are there so many elder and former elders here....?

  Yes, dear TS (again, peace to you!). That's simply because the owner hasn't changed the name to keep up with the changes that have taken place. Could be a bit misleading, yes... but then, the assumption (which could be wrong, but it is what it is) is that anyone visiting is old/intelligent enough to take a minute and check things out so that they know what's really going on... rather than just assuming. I mean, does every Internet site you visit conform to its title? Personally, I can't say that that has been my experience; to the contrary, MANY aren't what the title purports it to be.

  You have made it into an anti-Witness forum because you didn't have the respect to let them have their own forum or even topics on this one.

  Ummmm... I didn't make it into anything. It was pretty anti-WT when I arrived... close to 11 years ago. It's much more atheistic than it was then, but... stuff happens, you know? I'm a "big" girl, though... and know that I have a CHOICE as to where to visit... or not... on the Internet... so I can't blame a site... or its owner... if I CHOOSE to participate. I mean, you think what YOU posted was met with opposition? Goodness, dear one... you haven't even received a scratch, IMHO. Now, if you truly wanna talk "battle wounds"... let's me and you have a REAL sit down and that discuss it. I will show you "scars" you can only dream of. BUT... I can also show you WONDERFUL "beauty marks" from having been here, as well.

  I'll start my own JW forum and be the mod and admin and just delete anyone's account who would spread their hate and lies.

  I mean, if that's what you want to do. What I personally love about this place... in spite of the daily opposition I receive for what I post... is that I CAN post what I post. No one... who CAN... tries to restrict me. I absolutely realize, however, that whatever I post is subject to opposition and criticism, of course. But that's the risk I take, yes? Obviously, I'm willing to take it... for the rewards. And there are rewards. In fact, I'm going to post two when I'm done here.

  Look, dear one... just like you and those you currently associate with don't want "outsiders" coming into their kingdom halls and assemblies, etc., disagreeing, opposing, criticizing, and calling down evil... neither do the folks who associate here. Its DISRESPECTFUL. You don't enter somewhere as a GUEST... and then speak ill of your "host" and/or his/her home. That is poor manners and rude. Such a person is subject to be thrown out and/or asked to leave (by the host or, in some instances, some of the other guests). True, you may not like some of the other "guests," but... they're not YOUR guests. They're the hosts guests. Now the "host" has not asked you to leave. To the contrary, he has done with you as he does with MOST guests here, including yours truly: allowed you to stay... and speak YOUR mind. You, though, have to return the "favor"... as to OTHER guests. See? If you break the hosts rules, though, you are subject to being "escorted" out. Just sayin'...

  So, post what you will... but please don't complain about the site or host if folks take issue. If you believe you are right... stand your ground and defend your position. But know that this is really not a place where you wanna bring a sling shot... where others might be carrying grenades. So, choose your battles. If you can hang... hang. If you can't... take your leave. Without throwing rocks on your way out.

If wts allowed freedom of thought and freedom of speech then it wouldn't be a cult would it? But because they misquote others, print half truths and hide relevant information you as a witness have no right to question them openly nor do you have a right to point out the deception to your friends not call them out publicly on their BS.

  I also doubt that you're not a JW in one form or another - meaning you're either DF apologist or are an active JW.

  One more thing. Since watchtower themselves applied a title of prophet to themselves while not claiming to be inspired how the hell do you explain this quote of Rutherford's

  "I realized the possibility of some old codger turning up bright and early some morning and declaring he was David. The men whom I have designated to test the identity of these men are officers of my societies. . . . They will be divinely authorized to know impostors from the real Princes." - Time magazine, Monday, Mar. 31, 1930

  The above was speaking of Rutherford's mansion in San Diego - Beth Sarim - which was supposedly build for ancient worthies who were supposed to be resurrected in 1925 and were expected any day to appear on earth. Rutherford didn't have a problem living there nor did he have a problem driving a fancy Cadillac all during the great depression.

  You claimed " They never stated that they are prophets" and went into detail on how Watchtower interpretation is not prophecy. Why is it when the Watchtower claims the end will come on a date and it doesn't, it is not a prophecy, but when Camping does exactly the same thing the Watchtower mock him. Notice how they claim his interpretation's were prophecies.

  In actuality, the name of this web site is not misleading and doesn't need to be changed as the main purpose of this site is discussion of the "Jehovah's Witnesses" religion and the Watchtower B&TS.

  The Home page of this site states:

  The place to discuss anything relating to Jehovah's Witnesses and the WatchTower Bible and Tract Society... or just make new friends!

  As far as who can post here, all are welcome, JW and non-JW alike. Of course, we are all to act with civility while adhering to the rules of conduct stipulated by the owner of this forum.

  As you know, JW's, as per WT rules, are discouraged from using the internet, particularly with regard to JW topics or religion in general. Many JW's that were previously running websites, even those in good standing and with a "YaY, YaY, Jehovah's way" message, were pulled in the back room and told by the Elders to 'Shut it down'. Those that were not counselled two/three on one were otherwise counselled through talks from the platform.

  Adhering to WT dictates leaves individual JW's with really no place to express their personal opinions or views. The odd few JW sites that do remain, often use the tactic expressed by trthskr,

  so anyone making any statement that didn't conform to the WT party line is immediately deleted along with their postings.

  JW's posting the party line here are expected to back-up their position yet when they won't, they often claim that they are being picked-on and are not welcome to post here.

  The forum does not represent itself as an official WT sanctioned site, but some newbie's posting here initially make claim that the site name is dishonest. The WT didn't regester the site name so it was open and available when Simon created the forum.

  It appears many JW's don't conduct proper research or at least read through postings before joining an internet forum and then they cry FOUL when they don't get their ears tickled with the same old regurgited message heard at the Kingdom Hall. I guess that their research and investigation skills are only as good as what the WT has taught them.

  The OP calls himself 'trthskr' yet he/she doesn't seem to be seeking real truth, but only what the WT's definition of 'Truth' happens to be today.

  He/she isn't trying to learn more as he/she seems to know all of the answers although he/she won't provide direct answers to questions asked. I've seen this same tactic used numerous times by other JW's on this forum. When asked for specific references, quotes or other substantiating proof, they skirt and talk around the issue or change the subject at hand instead of replying directly, yet they keep letting on that they have provided an appropriate response. They seem to have an attitude that they are above everyone else and they don't need to answer to anyone.

  It's interesting that there are often non-JW's viewing this site interested in knowing about the JW religion. After seeing how self professed JW's typically respond to challenges to their faith and how unchristian like they treat others, I've seen where some have said that they were so glad they came here before becoming involved with the JW religion.

  Although trthskr doesn't claim to be a JW in any form, he/she sure portrays the mannerisms and attitude of a JW and defends the WT position - more than any only interested person would ever display or do.

  Most JW's posting here have a mission to correct everyone else, proclaiming the WT party line regardless of whatever contradictary evidence is presented. A JW that is honestly searching for truth, would not respond to any topic raised here without at least doing some basic independent background investigation into the matter. It's only an odd few when challenged to do so, will actually look deeper into matters.
