If men could menstruate, they'd likely deal with it...keep it to themselves without having to talk about it and hold it over women's heads as if it were their fault menstruation existed.
Exactly. I had migranes 2-3 times a week for 8 years. I'd wake up with a bad headache, and knew that day would suck. If I had one, I knew I'd have another one the next day on the other side of the head - they always came in pairs. Still, in the mornings I would take a shower, get dressed, and get to work on time. I'd fake a smile all day long, and pretend that nothing was wrong with my co-workers. I had to work double-hard to pay attention and keep up with everything I did.
Sometimes your situation sucks, but you just have to make the best of it and get your work done.
There are real-world functions and discomforts that are unique to males, and contrary to the (false) premise of the original essay - men don't turn "spin" everything "male" as being good and to be worshiped - and everything "female" into "negative". Male or female - we all tend to focus on the things that suggest good health and vitality... and be a little shy about the others.

Mrs Jones, I know where you're coming from. By the time I have my pants off, the girl's got to be begging for a break. I think there was a 20 Fingers song about that...

No shit I got one better, I used to work overnight stock in a grocery store. My co-workers were all guys. None of the woman who came after me could handle the job and quit after a week. I worked nights when my periods was the heaviest and when I say heavy I'm going throught super plus tampons and overnight pads every two hours. I was mostly on my feet stocking or lifting heavy ass boxes. And on top of that cramps were kicking my ass and my left leg would swell up because of the pressure coming from the cramps that were expelling the blood from my uterus. Did I ever complain to the guys or my husband? No, I sucked it up like WOMAN and did my damn job.
I've been menstruating since I was 14, I'm 45 now. I still have the heavy periods and kick ass cramps. My husband never hears a peep from me.
So you don't have to tell me about sucking it up and making the best of it and getting a job done. Been doing that for close to 30 years now.

Naomi wolf is not sufferaget or man hater type feminist. Shes a very reasonable down to earth type gal.... You cannot find someone to prove your point. "she" dosent exsist.... The extremist femesist chicks are all ugly and/or have abusive men in their lives... Again, think carefull who you hitch your wagons too....

Mrs Jones . . . it appears you and my wife have a lot in common.
We well know each others strengths, weaknesses and challenges . . . without having to bleat to each other periodically . . . that's the basis of our collective strength.
Your husband is a lucky man.
