I told my (non-Witness) husband that quote, "No one really loves unless they know and love Jehovah." He raised his eyebrows, said "wow, that's insulting." then Bam! off he was on a rant. I love the story that Girlie told on page 1- the householder nailing the witness for saying that only JW's can love. That's exactly what is being said in that quote, and yeah, it's very insulting.

By inserting these ideas in the context of a play or drama, it suppreses the ability to think. Either you have a "WTF?!" thought pass through your head, or you nod your head, because you are used to responding this way, and move on.

I don't have a calculator on the ratio of 7 million JW's to 7 billion world population of the world, but you do the math. What this is saying is that the love, ability to love, and all claims to love do not matter if you are not a Jehovah's Witness.

    It's a sick thought.

After reading through the hijacking attempt, I have this question...

When I married my wife, I was a JW. This means I could really love her.

Now that I am a "full blown apostate", is it impossible for me to really love her?

The reasoning of the title quote is so cultish.

It is cultish and might somewhat explain why my parents have such a distaste for my hubby (who seems to attract a wide variety of people - he's a very likable guy) who's "worldy" *gasp*

I think the line they REALLY wanted to use was this:

"Remember, nobody can REALLY love you unless they know and love Watchtower Corporation first."

So, love appeared on the earth, only in 1919, when the wt corp became approved by god. Before that, there was a 2000 yr draught when planet earth was loveless. Love basically died off w the deaths of the apostles. But, before that, love was abundent only among gods chosen. For milleniums, the prechristian jews were the only race on the planet w real love. Real love was confined to that little strip of land along the mediterranean. They were demonstrating jehovah's true love by following his laws and maiming, killing torturing and otherwise treating badly the lawbreakers. As well, they massacred the smaller nations who blocked their paths to anything that they wanted, and they considered themselves at war w the larger nations that they weren't able to wipe out. That's real love that comes ONLY from knowing and loving jehovah, according to the wt.

it looks like this Topic has the wrong title, if I REALLY am a "troll" on this Topic (a.k.a. thread). On the other hand, according to what I've seen in Forum practice, we each have the right to respond to others' comments, surely, and not JUST the Topic. After all, this whole Forum is an exercise in socialisation, and in freedom of sharing all of our unique perspectives, even if only some will understand or appreciate our particular sentiments.

Actually, that isn't true Spike. If two people are having a conversation, it is rude to interrupt and take the conversation elsewhere under the guise that such a rude interruption would be "an exercise in socialisation, and in freedom of sharing all of our unique perspectives, even if only some will understand or appreciate our particular sentiments." In an internet forum, you have chosen to be vauge and rude while insisting that your form of rudeness should be allowed on the premise of free speech. I allow that others have treated you rudely, but Simon and other mods have, and continue to address this. For my part, I have not been among those who have treated you rudely. I do demand that your comments stay ON TOPIC. If your version of socialisation is correct, then there would be no topics, only a long, one topic thread freeforall. That isn't how it works, nor does it justify what I perceive to be your attempts at being profound at 30 words or less. Now kindly do all of us the courtesy of staying on topic. Thank you.

within the social context of the Topic (a.k.a. thread), that is my aim.
