No District Attorney would even contemplate prosecuting a case without enough evidence to at least have a chance of conviction.
They drag people into court all the time on circumstantial evidence. Enough people are innocent and have even been executed on circumstantial evidence, only to be proven innocent too late. There are good DA's. But there are enough bad ones. Just because there is a chance of conviction doesn't mean that the person on trial is guilty.
He was a strange character that no one should ever have left children with. Let's say for argumentary purposes that he was not guilty. Still why allow that much unmonitored intimacy between one's child and someone so scarred? Just because he is famous is no excuse. It's asking for something to go wrong. Look at all that did happen, from porn to alcohol. I mean that's bad enough. I would rather proactively keep my child away from someone who may problems like this than take the chance. His guilt we will never know for certain. That's the nature of this type of situation. We can only have an opinion on it's probability. But that is why we need to be extra cautious with our children.
Yes, FHN what you say is true. Likewise, I stand by what I said. Circumstantial evidence is still evidence. In this particular case, there was plenty of evidence, including the testimony of the victim. After the trial, two of the jurors claimed to have been intimidated to go along with a not guilty verdict. One said, “No doubt in my mind whatsoever, that boy was molested, and I also think he enjoyed to some degree being Michael Jackson’s toy.” The other said, "We let a pedophile go free."
Unlike thee and me, these people heard and saw all the evidence.
That is only two of how many jurors?

I'm a former social worker and current lawyer, and I don't think he did it. But that's just my opinion. I think he was a troubled man, and I think he considered himself a kid on the same level as the kids he hung around. But I don't think he molested any. I think he liked kids so much because kids tend to have a certain "innocence", in the sense that most of them wouldn't care about his money or fame or influence. And there were probably very few adults in his life of which the same could be said. Again, this is just my opinion. I didn't personally know the man or the facts surrounding the case, so I can't say anything for sure either way. If I didn't have experience with juries, I would be shocked at the level of conviction of a lot of people here.
People are looking at this and making conclusions based on our NORMAL view of reality. Michael Jackson's reality was nothing like ours, and the reality of the judicial system is nothing like you see on TV or what you think it should be. On a daily basis, innocent peope plead guilty, innocent people settle, innocent people are convicted and put to death, and don't even get me started on district attorneys...
