I'm with what Jermy C said , I find the Christmas thing more of an annoyance than anything the music is boring and tritely stupid,

the over commercialism of the Holiday gets to be too much, its just too long and drawn out.

I enjoy taking time off from work and spending a couple of days with the family and the lights do brighten up the neighborhood.

I guess you can say its a holiday for the kids and there is not much wroung with that .

Make the best of it and try and enjoy the seasonal festivities.

    Eat drink and be merry

I hate Christmas. Period. But I have a wife and big family that make it impossible to ignore. Oompa, my advice is to avoid it as long as possible. You don't know how lucky you are not to be forced into it.

I celebrated Christmas for the first ten years of my life. It was wonderful and magical. I'm having an easy time getting back into the groove. I attended an office Christmas party last night.

Had I never been involved with it, I would probably feel as many of you do.

    Merry Christmas!

Not being raised around it I don't feel the need.I just enjoy the season. My daughter is old enough where at most a gift suffices. Plus her Mom is a JW so when she's with her its discouraged. But if I remarried I'd do it as my wife probably would. And I feel any new kids should have the Xmas experience.

How can you guys lump all xmas songs into one catagory? I don't like some xmas songs, but how can you not like ALL xmas songs?

Songs like "Silent Night" or "Noel, Noel" are beautiful songs!

"I'll Be home For Christmas"......great song! Have yourself a merry little Christmas, happy new year too! Gymbob

Since I'm an Atheist I would celebrate it as the rebirthing of the sun... Cold weather will be over soon, and the days will be getting longer... that's a reason to celebrate!

I will be spending Christmas with non-JW family for the first time in my life... I'm looking forward to it!

If your wife is a JW, it seems it would be hard to get into the christmass spirit. To me it's more of a Womans holiday, with the decorating and fixing the house up and the baking.

When my wife escaped the tower that was the first thing she did was start celebrating the holidays.

So I use it as a time to give her gifts and things that she would have gotten other times.

When there are 2 of you celebrating its kind of neat to get up X-mass morning and open gifts.

My wife and I do the Jewish version of Christmass, totally materialistic, no Jesus.

Sort of a purist version given to us by the shop keepers to stimulate their economy.

IMHO, Christmas is best celebrated with family and friends, especially little kids. When your exjw son has kids, you'll be blown away by the experience. Or if you happen across someone who is truly needy and have the ability to make their holiday just a little nicer, you will get into the spirit of things.
