First half of my life in Illinois, second half in S.E. Texas. White. After living here for 30yrs. I do say y'all and pronounce "oil" as "all". I don't think I have too much of a Southern Accent. One thing I really respect here is, that kid's are still taught to show respect to the elder adults by saying, Yes, mam and yes, sir. It sounds very polite.

I've been in Arkansas all my life and I don't think I have much of a southern accent. Some from the north say I do slightly, others say I don't.

If you can find a person in Oregon who pronouces it different then the way I said, I would like to meet them ... however, knowing Oregonians, they might no longer be with us.
