    snowbird,

I don't give a rat's bummy about Pascal's wager, a priori, empirical, or confirmation bias.

Why do I hear the sound of Galileo Galilei on trial here?

OK, so Luke's geneaology is more comprehensive than Matthew's. I already knew that.

The chart the link refers to does not address anything regarding the differnece between the 6000 years of literal Bible chronology, vs. the 10's of thousands of years that numerous lines of evidence indicate.

You asked the questions below, did you not? The link I provided was where I got my information that the genealogy from Adam to Jesus proves nothing concerning human history. Not to worry, though. Franz made the same mistake!

It does? Where in the Bible does it say that? Which generations are skipped? How do you know?

Sylvia, I like you, but you are being intellectually dishonest.

    How so?

The Bible doesn't say how long humans have been here

It most certainly does. There is a listing of all the generations between Adam and Jesus, and by calculating the lifespan, times of rulership of Judean kings, etc., one comes up with a "date of creation" of the first man at around 4000 BC.

There are numerous lines of evidence, archaeological, linguistic, genetic, etc., indicating that man has been around far longer than 6000 years. This directly contradicts the Bible's timeline.

    Hmmm...

I think it's time for a coffee break.

Earlier in this thread I said, 'Sorry to be boring but reaching any conclusion with you through logical debate is like trying to catch a dream in a bottle.

I have worked it out now. Dreams are not meant to be kept in bottles they are for wine.

Honest, I'm trying to understand! Help me out:

Sir82: The Bible gives a complete genealogy, from Adam to Jesus. It does not allow for more than 6000 years of human history.

Snowbird: Wrong - look at this website

Website: A regurgitation of the Bible's genealogy...which does not not allow for than 6000 years of human history

Sir82: I don't get it....the website reinforces my point, that the Bible purports to give a complete genealogy from Adam to Jesus. How does the website allow for "missing generations"? There's no extra-biblical gaps in the website's timeline.
