How do you handle them? I mean, sometimes they write things that are really hurtful!

Do you just ignore them altogether? Do you argue with them? Do you PM them? Do you address it once and then state that you will no longer address there abusive posts? Do you stick up for others that are being spoken to in a mean way?

    Thanks, Cognac

Me too. I wonder if they realize that they are abusive???

That's a good idea. VERY difficult to do.

Are they being "abusive," or are they just expressing the cold harsh reality of a situation as they see it. If it's aimed directly at us, we may tend to see it as abuse. I rarely see what I would call abuse on this site. Sometimes we just don't get it. I can see where a little warmth would be good, but some have no "bedside manner."

I read the exchange that took place just a tiny while ago.

I actually didn't see that the initial post by someone on
page 3 of that other thread was terrible. You were free to
ignore it, consider it, weigh it with other comments.

I read their more recent post on how you ignored all the
counsel, and your excellent reply that you did respond
on that thread, contrary to what they said.

I don't want to dwell on this, or get stuck in the middle,
so I will comment but never again. I will avoid this thread
like the plague (besides reading it). I think you stuck up for
yourself well. You might have gone a bit far in your return
volley, but it's just a discussion forum. You, and they should
be free to say what you want.

I want everyone to realize that some people take this forum
seriously. People are asking advice and laying their lives on the
line. I cross the line a few times, so do others. We try not to, but
this is some really serious sh&t here and sometimes our feelings
are strong. When commenting, please be careful. When replying
to what another said, also be careful. BUT everyone, also take a
chill pill if lines are crossed. Have your say, then shake hands later.

I make Minimus the butt of many of my jokes, but I bet he would be
my best friend if we met. We never flame it up beyond repair.

Done, not gunna comment here anymore. Don't try to make me.

I'm just sick and tired of them. Why do they read your thread and then attack you??? What's the point? We come here to support eachother. There are ways to counsel a person without attacking that person.

Why don't they get that? I mean, if we are always looking for the bad in a person, our own lives will be miserable. I could find 5 billions things wrong with myself and others.

Sometimes, I do feel the need to counsel somebody and there are times when I need counsel. Sometimes people have to really lay into me a bit because that's what I need. However, there's a big difference with that and just being a jerk...

I had a thread about something that really hurt me. A poster was extremely rude to me. I said that I didn't know if it was their attempt at humor or not. If not, I told them to go f*ck themselves. Usually I ignore them, but the really hurtful unnecessary things get to me. And I will respond in kind.

I didn't either. I thought this was really nice counsel. I took no offense to it at all. I've actually been just thinking about it. This is not what I was referring to when I started this thread.
