Thank you, Mrs. Smith. It's a slow progress, but definitely better, at least emotionally than even two weeks ago. We have a long way to go and we have ups and downs, but the hard days are getting easier.

Today I went to Andy's caseworker's appointment with him. We got frustrating news about several aspects of his case and his application for disability is not a done deal. His application for medicaid & state disability which will hold him, though it isn't much, until the other would start, is sitting unopened on someone's desk we found out. He sent it in weeks ago. Once they do open it and start on it, it can take up to 90 days to find out about it. The federal disability is months away if they approve it the first time around. I am very weary, but somehow we will figure this all out.
As Bebu said, if any of you have contacted her to ask if I can still use some help, I can. I am looking for work that will provide better than my current job. And I will increase my hours at the current job.

"Your Federal Tax Dollars in Action" the sign says...
It is so sad that these things take so long to resolve. The govt. does not seem to understand the meaning of the word, "Emergency"...see "New Orleans". Or the word, "priority", see "Iraq" & "Healthcare."
You might want to try getting a lawyer that will work on a contingency basis. We applied for my wife's blindness and despite that being a so called "automatic eligibility" -- they denied it. This time we'll use a legal eagle. From what I understand so far...there will be no cost to us, the govt. has to give her 'back pay' to the time she 1st applied if we win. The lawyer gets a fee paid by the govt. equal to 25% of that sum.
Hang in there !

Rabbit, how long does the lawyer think it will take the appeal process?

We don't know yet, we are in the beginning process of getting all the info to him. We know too many people who've been denied over and over, then, they get a lawyer and *snap* they get help. From what we understand, the govt. automatically denies almost everyone the 1st time, then they deliberately make it confusing...some just give up. But, they don't mess with lawyers, because they already know the rules before they take the case.
Good luck !

Rabbit, I hope she gets the help and quickly from the attorney. Life is a blur for us anymore. One good thing is that Andy seems to get a little better each passing week. Julian misses his mom and brother, but he's happy here with us.
I finally broke down and got Ricky Bobby a bigger exersize ball. He can actually move in this one. I didn't feel well this weekend, but made it to work and through each shift. I did pretty well with my productivity. I like the people I work with. I catch what's on sale grocery-wise and that way we can save money and actually get things we like but can't afford unless they are on sale.
I have a job lead. If it pans out, I'll let you all know.

Estee, I haven't seen you in a long time. Good to see you. Thank you so much. We've been through it and it's not over yet, but we keep struggling to find our bearings again. I keep reminding myself, this too shall pass. I just hope it's sooner than later.
