Ghosts, Demons, or Imagination?

Ok, its happened again! But not to me this time, my 12 year old son.

Last night he fell asleep on the couch, so I left him there and went to bed. He wolk up about 3 am, and walked upstairs to his bedroom. I was woken up shortly after that to banging and screaming at my bedroom door. I let him in and he was crying so hard, he couldnt talk.

Finally he calms down enough to barely get it out. When he went into his room, he looked out his door and thought he saw someone standing by the closet in the other bedroom. He said he didnt think to much of it. Then he said he looked at his computer, and saw a scull with a red x on it. (he has no screensaver)

That scared him so he jumped into bed and covered up. Then he heard a noise and looks up and sees this man standing by the closet just staring at him. He said he looked like a sailor with a long black coat and a hat! He got up, turned on his light. The guy disappeared!!!! He screamed for me 3 times, but I was zonked, and had the fan running and I didnt hear him. So he ran through the room, to mine.

Now I know he was awake, cause he walked upstairs, so he couldnt have been dreaming. And I thought maybe a shadow? But with that much detail? This is a kid that can watch any type of scary movie and not be scared. But the way he was crying, I knew he had to see something. We came down here for a few minutes and talked. When we went back up, he clung to me with the blanket over his head cause he was afraid to see this man! He had to sleep in my room, and shut my closet door. I was so scared, I didnt want to even go back up there!

Wow, BL, that did sound scary. From your opening sentence I take it that this sort of thing has been happening around your place beyond this one experience?

The metaphor of course is the danger in the internet..The Red X on the computer screens represents Apostate sites that are regularly viewed in your house, while the Sailor (or seamen if you will) clearly shows someone in your house is waaayy into internet porn. Demons are very methaphorical and ironic.

He is 12, he has an active imagination.

I think that he really saw something, or else he wouldn't have reacted like that. It's not the first time that something strange happens where you live now, and also where you lived before that.

The JW's would say that it's the demons doing that. I think, like the bible says, that the dead are really dead, and are like unconscious.

At first I thought it could be a nightmare, but since he saw something move during the day when he was well awake, then I think something weird is going on.

Sounds like those scary movies are finally starting to get to him. Or, your kid is an empath. Either way, it may be time to curb his scary movie watching tendencies. Especially if he is an empath.

I know that for some people this is too far fetched to believe. But for people who have experienced things like this, understand. "you have to see it to believe it" Well I have seen it too many times in the past 6 years. So I know its real. And everyone of my children have had strange things happen. My Mom has also. (maybe we are all just nuts) lol

Since it's happened more than once, it's clearly a problem. Sleep walking, talking, medical problems, and lucid dreaming should be ruled out first. When I was 9, I spent the night at the neighbor's house and walked home around the corner and downstairs to my bed without remembering any of it. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion of demons or a haunting.

Take your son to the doctor and explain what is going on. Trauma cannot also be ruled out at this point. Has there been serious emotional upsets in his life within the last year or so? Could there be something that is causing him internal fear that he cannot reveal? A doctor would be best to take him to initially, and maybe they can put you into contact with a sleep specialist and a counselor. If, after you have examined these avenues, and find nothing, your next step might be to check into whether there's something with the house.

Contact your nearest paranormal investigation group, and ask that a study be done on your house. If you want, I can find a reputable one for you if you send me a PM. I would also check into the history of the house/location to see if there is a "history" -- such as a murder, suicide, fire, etc. Sometimes children can percieve residual hauntings when adults can't.

Of course, I'll get the usual "quack" rebuttals, but I'm used to that. <grin>

    Good luck!

Sounds to me like a nightmare. Kids get them from time to time. I wouldn't worry about it unless they become frequent. No need to invent invisible enemies to explain it.

    LOL @ schne

Nope, dont think it was bob this time. Hey, at least it wasnt me seeing it this time. If it were always me with these experiences, I would probably go to see a shrink. I dont think my son has seen a "ghost" for about 4 years now. But he did see one one other time. During the daytime too.
