so many people on the board care about you that I hope you'll continue to post updates from time to time.

    Hi Marjorie and ALL,

Thank you so much for caring.

OK, here's the update! Last week I had six days in a row when I felt low as I was in a fair bit of discomfort. I telephoned my homeopath who told me to stop taking the new medication she had prescribed and to go back to my previous medication. Happily, after two days I was back to feeling pretty good and have continued since.

This morning I visited Hazrat Saiyed Rais Ashraf Ashrafiul Jillani, a Muslim head priest and spiritual leader who is visiting England but is going back to India in a week's time. He informed me that I am not going to die from my disease. He did some healing over me and said some prayers. This is my second visit to this greatly respected holy man and it has been a great honour and privilege for me. No matter what religion we are I believe great men can be found in all walks of life - and Hazrat Sayed Rais is certainly one of them! Because of the fundamentalists Muslims are often seen in a bad light. I just wish the bigots could have been with me this morning. I was the only white non-muslim visiting and was received with love and cordiality. I was amongst a great bunch of people and not one penny was expected from me.

I have learnt so much since leaving the JWs. I am not judgemental over anyone and my spirituality has grown accordingly. People are people and once we realise no one is specially chosen over anyone else life has new meaning and is a lot more beautiful to live. Apart from my swellings, life is good.

    Love to all,

    Ian

Ian, I agree - good points. It's so refreshing to be able to just appreciate people for who they are without having to first consult "the rules" about who is good and acceptable and who is supposedly not!

Thanks for the update, Ian ----

I know you're keeping in touch with lots of friends via email, but I've seen many messages in this thread from people who don't know you well but who care about you and want to know how you are doing. Aren't you glad Gracie started it? I think it's been a beautiful testimony to the genuine love and affection we have in our hearts for you.

(And if a thread's success can be judged by the number of spin-offs which it has generated, then this one's a winner in that category, too!)

I think we are all touched by your willingness to accept our love and prayers in whatever form they come.

(Mine come in the name of the Lord Jesus <s>!)

As ever, blessings and love to you and yours,

    Marjorie

    Hi Marjorie,

Yes, there have been many times when I've been overcome with emotion due to the love shown me. I'd dearly love to hug everyone individually. When I'm cured, I fully intend to ((((((((HUGS)))))))))

I'm also still coming to terms with all the smoochies I've received!

I think we are all touched by your willingness to accept our love and prayers in whatever form they come.

I am not so arrogant to say that I know all the answers. What I DO know is that I've been feeling really well and upbeat since people starting praying for me and am convinced such prayers are having the desired effect. Hence, I will willingly seek out holymen and healers from any walks of life because it doesn't matter what their religious persuasion is. What does matter is their loving and caring sincerity.

The love I have for everyone here is reciprocated a hundredfold. I can never thank you enough. You have all given me added reason to live and I should like to meet you all in person.

Grace really has done me proud and, yes, I do truly appreciate her starting this thread (((((((Grace))))))). It is a testimony to the boundless love complete strangers can have for someone of a kindred spirit. I feel as though I really know everyone who has contributed. They have become family!

    Love,

    Ian

I don't post on this board very often, but I feel a closeness to all the others who are rooting for you. It's ironic that the WT recently had an article full of warnings about strangers (I can't remember, but it may have been Blondie who started the thread on it). The members of your former congregation are avoiding you, but total strangers are holding you and Claire and your family in their hearts.

It's a beautiful day here in Maryland. I hope you and Claire had a wonderful day, too.

Keep a positive attitude, Ian. We are all here for you. I can see you are well loved, by all the response you have received, and so you must be a great guy. Get well soon. My wife and I will pray for you, also.
