My Life as a 'Famous' Jehovah's Witness

    Just let me start out by saying I am unable to give certain details of my life as I have learned very quickly this can cause a lot of problems. I was born into the 'truth' as my mother had been studying with a few sisters on and off at a local congregation. My father was never a JW and came in and out of my life for many years..to this day I do not give him much time. As you get older you can see how people take advantages of certain predicuments. I led a very simple life and had decent grades and was at every meeting every week except the occational bookstudy. I had my own private study with a brother who is one of the nicest people I have ever met--even to this day.

    I grew up and had a normal childhood as you can expect in the inner-city. I was not sheltered in any way by my Mother and played Baseball every weekend and practiced with the school teams though I was not allowed to travel or play at local games. I got baptized at 17 as I went through a severe depression and was attempting to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I guess I was hoping I would get 'Led by Divine Intervention'? I had a semi-regular share in the Field Ministery and was always respectful of the congregation.

    About the time I was midway through 17 I began to be encouraged to take a more intent look at my physical skills. I had been told that if I ever wanted out of the situation I was at I would need to attend college and given my track record with sports perhaps even a scholorship. I started spending less time at home and more time on the field. I actually received that scholorship and eventually led to a very good long career with a Baseball Team. All the way through the work to get there I was scolded regularly and even banned from certain congregational activities. Now that I was drafted and traveling a lot at the young age, people would speak behind my back at the wild ways and lack of direction--choosing money over God.

    I'll keep this short. The same ones who were talking bad about me when I was gone were always trying to get free seats and spend time outside of the Kingdom Hall. I guess all of the elders were having financial problems at this time.

    Thanks for the listen.

    It is always like this. The JW's are the most selfish people in the world. But, it may stem from the no education thing. They know, they will never amount to anything in "this world",

    I don't think I have welcomed you. WELCOME!!!! Look forward to hearing more from you.

    This famous JW was a long-time second baseman with the Detroit Tigers. Not saying he's the same as our poster above. But the story is similar.

    <Sigh>

    Do I really need to say, "Don't feed the trolls"?

    First played organized baseball at age 17, then playing at the major league level at age 20 (as Lou Whitaker did)?

    Topic post rife with spelling errors and grammatically awkward, more in the style of a bored teenager than a 50 year old man?

    Whatever. Carry on.
