  Hi Greg,

  Talking about the Saudi and Kuwaiti oil money, yes the Sheiks and kings of Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and yes Iraq too, as well as the Shah of Iran, all were put in place, chosen as it were, by Britain in the aftermath of WWI and the divying up of the old Ottoman empire, and supported for decades by you guessed it, the decadent west, sharing in the oil riches of the Gulf by simply selling weapons all round, weapons coming out of their ears, even selling weapons to both sides in the Iran Iraq war. In the case of the Shah of Iran, he was put there by virtue of a CIA supported coup to get rid of an elected government. No wonder the Iranians threw him out.

  Have you heard of blowback, it's another way of saying what goes around comes around. It's not very nice to think about but it should make people - even leaders of great nations, stop and think before they act, how will this action affect other people.

  You make me want to be a Christian again (after I already denyied Jesus and then undenied him personally, as a man that is). Thanks for that. One of the worst crimes of President Bush is to label by his words and actions, Christians as crusaders. There are many good Christians out there who are wholeheartedly opposed to the war. Tom Fox springs to mind as a martyr who paid for his belief in peace with his life. He left as his last will and testament the instruction that nobody should be killed for killing him. He was a much braver and better man than I.

  I know also of the Plowshares group, some of whom, such as Ciaren O'Reilly are facing up to a decade in jail for disabling and damaging a B52 bomber with hammers, and cutting the fence of teh Pine Gap spy base in Central Australia. They are true Christians.

  Israel is a theocratic ethnocracy aiming for a pure ethnic Jewish State ruled under the Torah, which has as it's fundamental tenent the continued exclusion of the refugees who escaped the ethnic cleansing carried out by Zionist terrorists such as the Irgun, the Stern Gang, the Samson's Foxes, in the name of the establishment of a Jewish State, i.e. a State for ethnic Jews and not for Arabs. Real peace could be achieved by a settlement which recognises and does justice to the right of return of the Palestinian refugees and their descendants, who have suffered so many wars and massacres in Jordan and Lebanon so that Israel is no longer constituted an ethno-religious Jewish State, but rather a democratic State for all the citizens of Palestine - be they Hebrew, Arab Muslim and Arab Christian, and Druze.

  Before you condemn me as an anti-zionist terrorist, I would simply point out that Israel proudly proclaims itself to be a zionist state. I think that justifies me in pointing out that Zionism is an apartheid doctrine which is offensive to Palestinians who have been ethnically cleansed to make way for it. This is one of the causes of Islamic terrorism, the intransigence of Israel and the United States in making a just settlement which abandons zionism and recognises the full human rights of the Palestinian residents and refugees of Palestine.

  Hallelujah – Just had a chance to catch up on your posts addressed to me. I really appreciate the thoughtfulness that went into them. Frankly, lobbing zingers back and forth gets boring and usually degenerates into silliness. I’ll try to address your comments somewhat in order.

  When I started the topic (I’m not familiar with the term ‘furphy’?) I had literally just heard a news blurb on the radio that an announcement was forthcoming that WMDs had been found in Iraq. Ten minutes later, Santorum and the other Senator read their statement and I posted my topic. I agree that as the story developed it was not quite as earthshaking as my topic title implied, but it was an honest statement by me at that time and I suppose it was accurate in a legalistic sense.

That war resulted in Israel kicking the three respective nations asses and occupying the Golan Heights (Syria), West Bank (Jordan) and the Gaza strip (Egypt) some of the areas where the Palestinians were trying to exist. The Palestinians, naturally, did not blame or hold accountable their Muslim brethren for the bigger mess this left them in. No, they hated all the more and the rest is history. I have a great deal of empathy for the Palestinians but not enough to condone the suicide murders of civilians.

  Why can't reply posts be saved temporarily when one wants to refer back to a post during their composition? I learned the hard way that this will lose the entire reply. So I try using my Word program, them copy and paste it into the reply box. I end up with a garbled mess. (There's a straight line for you comedians who think every thing I post is a garbled mess)

  Copy and paste from Notepad rather than Word. The site is buggy where Word formatting is concerned.

  One trick I found for that, Gregor, is to save your document out of Word as an .html file, rather than as a word.doc. Then copy and paste from the .html file.
