WARNING: THE LINK BELOW CONTAINS EXTREMELY DISTURBING IMAGES

A distant relative of mine sent me this link yesterday. The subject of the email was simply "Mob Justice". The message was simply:

See what women face in other societies !!! click on the link below:-

To be honest, while I was watching the footage, I was so thoroughly shocked that I had no reaction at all, apart from a mild sence of disgust. I advise extreme caution, it is an extremely graphic footage of a woman being stoned and burned to death by an angry mob.

At first I had a very limited reaction... It wasn't until 10 minutes later when I had "recovered" from the initial feeling of disgust, and was doing something else entirely that the full import of the footage struck me, and it struck me so hard. I broke down in literally a flood of uncontrollable tears and throughout the rest of yesterday and even today, when I think of what I saw in that footage, I feel such a deep sence of sadness and dispair that brings tears to my eyes. I know that human beings are cruel, but the cruelty and merciless behaviour of this crowd of evil people opened up to me a new door into what this species is capable of carrying out. No matter what the woman did, she does not deserve to be treated in such a brutal, heartless way. The words "brutal", "heartless", "cruel" "barbarous" and "savage" are too mild for what took place. I knew that this kind of thing happens everyday around the world to different people... but to see it with my eyes, that was a shock to my system. My nose is running and my eyes are wet as I write this.

Well, I choose not to look at it. I am a believer in what you feed your mind always stays with you in some way. But it sounds appalling enough just from your description.

Legolas, I'm not sure what she did, but not matter what it was, I don't believe any human deserves this kind of treatment.

Ballistic, you are quite right, those appalling images will always stay with me. I don't think I regret having watched it though...

After having watched the footage, I had a great emotional catharsis. Over the years I've become hardened to my feelings, but yesterday was a very strange day for me. At first it was as if I was mourning over the poor woman, and the human contdition in general, but later on in the day, it turned more personal. I began to think about myself, my situation with my family, my love-life... it was as if the emotional shock of watching such human brutality, opened up the floodgates of distant, long-forgotten ghosts of memories... and I feel stronger...

that's the thing about being human...no matter how tough you may feel or act...you can't brush everything aside as if it's nothing. the person who could watch something like this, and not be moved in the least bit, is no longer a human at heart. they are a monster.

even i try to act tough and insensitive to certain aspects of life, but it's things like this that brings me to my knees.

    ((((dori))))

When I was a child, i used to hear stories of characters in the Bible being "stoned" for offending Jehovah... "cute" little childrens' bed-time bible-stories... never did I imagine how brutal and inhumane this "punishment" actually was. It's just something you never think about, you just accept it and say, "well, Jehovah is perfect in His Justice, so the punishment was just"... You never question, you just accept...
