for me it was the trs-80 model 1. i bought it for $10 at a second hand store when i was 10 years old.
took me forever to find info on the thing, an manual, and a patchcord to hook up a cassette deck.

the internet usenet mob I ride with is full of original geeks. Some even work for museums. One guy is in his 60's and has been in computers all his life, a few of them are lecturers. One of the colourful members is a full on geek, so is her mother......... Dunno what they use, but my first comp had a cassette drive. left it alone until my P100. I don't piss around with old computers, old cars and bikes are my thing Paging Animal to the gentlemens bar, Animal......

I like it when people pray for their favourite sports team to win. Or when people pray for their defence force to be kept safe. Or to keep you safe when travelling. I mean, if the maintenance dude at qantas didn't get a root last night, that plane isn't going to be kept up by divine force.

Does your child have any wierd obsessions?
by Eyebrow2 ini have a daughter that is almost 4 years old.
she is obessed with graveyards and death; not in a scarey way...just seems fascinated by it all.. everytime we pass a grave yard in the car she has to point it out, talk about the bones that are in it, etc.
she brings up the fact that everyone will die and be no more when they are old and their days run out...she told me i was old and had only three days to live the other day...eeek...if i make it to monday then i will be reassured that she is not psychic, hahah.

changing the subject back to the topic for a minute. My boy Chris gets obsessed with the next movie to be released. Rugrats Go Wild, he gets all the kids magazines from the supermarket and finds every reference to a movie and follows you around the house pointing to it. He has marked on the calendar the release date of movies. When he finally gets to see it at the cinema, he goes quiet for a whyle, but then he knows DVD will be released soon and starts up all again. When he gets the DVD, he watches it over and over until it is memorised. Now some of these magazines have the pictures so small, that I need a magnifying glass to see them, but he finds them first try and remembers which mag and what page. Then came Wild Thornberrys.... AHHHHH He's 14 and has Down Syndrome.
My youngest boy Callum had a best mate at his last school. This kid had few other friends, he has Aspergers. He lives in fear of dinoaurs, it was ok when he just knew everythig about them, but after Jurasic Park, he became an expert on cloning. He is absolutely scared witness that the dinosaurs will soon be back, and they are coming to GET HIM!!!!

I work in the same field as that brother. I have the same things happen, when a saucy sex scene comes on, the bloody phone rings and I can't watch. When the violence starts, some other problem crops up and I cant watch. It's uncanny It's like someone is timing it so I can't get anything but uplifting clean christian television.
There was that time I worked for the Australian Christian Channel. Kn'scary that was.........

Stronger or weaker

my attitude to god and religon no longer plays an active part in my life.
what i mean by not playing an active part is that i never prayer for help when in trouble or understanding as to lifes purpose and a personal relationhip with god.. maybe because iam scared to take the risk my prayers might not be answered and i d be disillusioned.although if things go right i dont mind saying "thankyou" i will never say "please".
