we were supposed to be dedicated unconditionally to jehovah god.
we were willing to be persecuted to the death if need be.
if it came to taking a blood transfusion or dying, we were loyal to jehovah and would be a martyr for god.

remember those pesky scriptures about 'put faith in jesus and you will be saved' & 'getting baptized without delay'?
well, in this time of the end ™ we know better, and the latest march 2020 study edition wt sums it all up:.
before you can get baptized, there are a few other things you need to do.
The wt will soon be adding psychiatric screening after the 100 questions are answered satisfactorily. The screening will weed out those who think they may one day want to be on the ever increasing 144,000 "class".

when the doctrine regarding 1935 being the close of the calling was done away with in 2007, it was not unexpected to see the number rise.
over the next few years it went from around 8,500 to 10,500. this seemed to indicate that there were a couple of thousand people that may have felt they had the calling all along, but too shy to profess it.
for the 30 year period between the mid 1978 and 2007, parktakers had barely dropped.
i think jehober changed the number from 144,000 to a much higher number. But since he hasn't updated his "holy word" for over 2,000 years. we haven't got the new number. It's coming sooooooooooon!

the co got on his hind legs for the public talk and repeated twice "tolerance promotes division".
then backed it up by saying that if one group march for some right, another group will march for the opposite.. so jws are intolerant and proud of it.
f@@@k me sideways.. may explain that the baptism tally was 0..
The good news is that zero became members of the now non spirit directed organization!

i was on the phone with a long-time friend from my original congregation north of new york city and she told me that the 'shit hit the fan' when a brother (long-time elder i know well) got remarried about 6 weeks after his wife died.. he was about 60 and his new wife (a pioneer that i also know) was about 50 and had never been married.. it became a huge issue when the co came.
due to all the talk and chatter in the congregation, he even included in one of his talks without naming names, that marriage is something sacred and that when and how people get married is a personal matter as long as it conforms to bible standards.. anyway, it shut everybody up.
any similar experiences in your current/former congregations?.
Everyone has an opinion about this but it's really no one else's business when a person remarries. However, it is fairly difficult to imagine both properly grieving your loved one and falling in love with another person within 6 weeks!

as an obedient little jw at age 20, i was serving time in federal prison in the late 60's, and the 40 brothers inside seagoville prison decided to stage our own assembly.i was the music servant.
(we didn't have elders back then.
)the theme of the assembly mimicked the free world assemblies being held outside.long story short:i composed (what i think and everyone else thought was) a very good song titled:following the fine shepherd as the end draws near.we rehearsed it (bros who had instruments) and the consensus revealed it was a winner._____excerpt:"jehovah god above, we owe you all our love; you are our shepherd and we follow you.though satan demands, that we must compromise; we'd sooner face death than be wrong in your eyes.now and forevermore, we fear not satan's roar;you are our shepherd and we follow you.
Hi Terry,
Not sure how you were treated during your incarceration, but the bro's in Safford were given a wide berth and lots of latitude. It wasn't too bad but still it was prison, separated from family. I know of about 8 of the guys that "lost" their wives while in prison. Got married young and those good little jw girls couldn't go without it while their young husbands ":stood tall" for jehober!

Regretfully, I believe that at one time I would have "died for jehober". Of course, since I've learned that he is just a mythological god, Hell NO!
I've told my children not to ever let their kids die because of some weird jw teaching about blood. Thankfully, they agree even though they are pimo's.

Hi Terry,
You like many of us that were 'incarcerated' in Safford federal correctional institution now realize what a waste it was to "stand firm"!
Not one visit from the congregation servants of the CO. They were very 'busy' getting ready for Armageddon.

it brings to mind my niece when she see`s how dry the countryside is ,how armageddon must be so close..
Climate change? You have to wonder if Climate change is what caused the "global" flood in Noah's day?

i am surprised no one has mentioned what is going on in canada.. maybe they have but i missed it.
so here are some of the facts as i know them.
ontario only.. sault st. marie had their six congregations whittled down to two.
It's gotta have some kind of negative psychological effect on those jw's who contributed their cash, labor, and supplies to build "their" local kh or assembly hall and then see it sold off and not even a proper 'thank you"!
I'd be thinkin', "is god really that broke?"
