**MUST READ** AlanF's email to Knocking.org
by sf inthis is a must-read that, hopefully, will stay an "active topic" for all seekers and lurkers, by bumping it to the top as often as possible.
alan wrote it in randys {dogpatch} thread regarding knocking.org documentary and in reply to the email mr. engardio sent to barbara anderson.
however, it is so vital a read that it indeed needs its own thread:.

Excellent thread you two. I'm partial to the video on Chris though. It's more thought provoking, and I can relate to more of what he says.
We do need videos like this, but I think these can be just as effective for JWs, especially in how Chris keeps saying our catch phrase - "the truth". Funny how we didn't invent that catch phrase at all.

JW. Net heals a JW Physician and his patient!
by abiather ini met a jw physician last month, by chance, in a waiting lounge!
i moved to the seat next to him and asked him: are you one of jws?.
surprised, he responded: i was, till last year.

“Jehovah who used blood of Jesus for the eternal benefit of the humans will not logically prohibit the use of blood for the temporary benefit of humans while they are still here on earth—especially so as Jesus sanctioned the drinking of symbolic blood in the form of the vine. Hence JW view of the blood transfusion is illogical and unscriptural.”
That line spoke volumes to me. Thanks for your experience.

Today's WT Study based on a theme that adds words not found in the original Greek.
by leaving_quietly intoday's wt study, from the december 15, 2014, is based on mark 7:14, which says:.
so calling the crowd to him again, he said to them: listen to me, all of you, and understand the meaning.
the two words at the end, "the meaning", are not found in the greek.

Antony Moris III and GB
by Gorbatchov inyesterday my wife and i watched the antony morris iii show on tv.jw.org.
our shared opinion was: what a hypocrisy loud and clear available.
antony speaking with a republican accent.. plummers, nurses and carpenters are the standard.. brumley selling his soul to who?

This is how it was for me with my parents, except I never vilified higher education. When people asked me about it, all I would say is that its not for everyone. Each person has to decide for themselves, not the elders, not the GB. And there are definitely valid concerns. It is a personal decision.sir82
It's pretty much par for the course for JWs.
At our congregation, there is a college-educated young guy whose unbelieving father paid 100% for his college education. This guy was raised in the "truth" by his believing mother.
At every, I mean every, meeting where education is discussed, his is the first hand up, and he condemns higher education expansively, verbosely, and vehemently.
Meanwhile, he continues to enjoy the 6-figure income his college education allows.I would neither recommend or discourage someone from a university degree, but I would tell them that I'm glad that I was able to do so, given my circumstances.

The Faithful Slave - An Obvious Question I Haven't Heard Asked
by berrygerry insince the big 7 have appropriated this "blessed" title for themselves, and disavowed the existence of this slave prior to 1919, an obvious question comes up.. was it not the apostate maria russell that proffered that ctr was "the slave," and was the coiner of the term "the faithful slave"?.
if the slave did not come into existence until 1919, then how was it possible that prior to 1919 that anyone knew that it existed, or would have been able to foretell that it would come into existence?.
was maria a prophetic apostate?.

"The governing body at that time..."
by OneEyedJoe inso i'm listening to the regional manager give his mid week talk and he's going over acts 15 where they're dealing with the issues that arrose from the jewish christians wanting the gentile christians to adhear too the mosaic law, so some of the apostles gathered to hash it out.
it struck me, though, that he kept using the phrase "the governing body at that time" to describe the apostles and older men who decided on the matter.
once he even slipped up and said apostles, then corrected it to the gb.. i'm thinking that they've actually gone so far as to put it in his outline to make sure its beaten into the r/f that the gb's power is somehow based in scripture.
