Hmmm, I wonder....if the net was around in judas' time, would he have killed himself? Or would he have participated in a forum like this and lived to speak out against those pesky Jesus Followers....It would have been quite therapeutic indeed.... .////nakedmvistar////

Ways "THEY" Controlled You
by minimus in"they" refers to the watchtower society, the elders, the brothers and sisters, etc.
when you look at how much control has been exerted over us over the years, you can't help but be amazed.
for example, if we had a major snowstorm in the area and the entire state was told by the governor to "please not go out", unless the call was made by the elders, the meeting was still on and you were expected to attend.

And how long were YOU, scully, in with THEM before YOU realized all this? I'm sure THEY didn't sucker YOU? ////nakedmvistar////

In reply,
You are an ex-jw. And you are on an ex-jw board. And you're here talking about jw topics. And yet, you say THEY are still in control? Huh? When will YOU be in control? When will you be responsible for you? Or is it more therapeutic to keep blaming "them" ////Nakedmvistar////

nagging doubt

If you want a pat on the back and reasurance that you did the "right" thing by leaving, well this is the forum for you. But if you want an unbiased view, I suggest you look elsewhere. I think we all can agree that this is an "apostate" forum. Sure you'll find varying opinions, but the majority are, as I see it, hostile to anything JW. Also, just because you leave the ORG. doesn't mean you have to dissolve your faith in God. One more thing, I don't think you need to take up smoking, drinking etc.., to declare your "freedom" unless you feel the need to surrender yourself to addiction... //Nakedmvistar//

Mass walk-out
by Elsewhere inin another thread heathen gave me a great idea.... http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=43769&site=3.
i'm always hearing apostates propose the idea of partaking of the emblems or passing out apostate literature at the memorial... but heathen has given me an even better idea.... a mass walk-out.
well, at least five people or so .

Were you born into the jw faith?
by nakedmvistar inhow many of you on this forum were born into the jw faith?
do you think this put you at a disadvantage when leaving the org.
do you think that someone who becomes a witness later in life would have an easier time adjusting back to a "normal" life?

Thanks for your reply, artful! If I may further expand on my question....Do you think that it would be difficult if not impossible for you to "integrate" into normal society being that you have not been exposed to or follow many of the worldly practices?.... Holidays and personal associations included. Would this be a hurdle or a welcomed experience?

Who Is Jehovah?
by reporter inchristians should all honestly and thoroughly investigate the contradictions between the old and new testaments in terms of the descriptions of god.. .
the god of the new testament is described as a god of love, mercy and peace.. .
the god of the old testament is described as jealous, vengeful god, a war-monger.

That's assuming that what you can't explain or measure with your trusty set of tape measures is myth and superstition. I try not to close my mind off to things or ideas which I cannot readily explain. I reserve judgement until all sides have been thoroughly investigated. Isn't that how many of us got to this forum?
