Snakes image in illustration in WT study just done
by Noumenon ini was at the meeting on sunday just gone (first time in about 5 weeks), and being a lot more attentive to detail these days, i noticed in the illustration of jacob and his sons (page 20 of june 15th watchtower) on the wall behind the old jacob there is what is clearly a bird with wings spread, but have a look at it's nec and head?
it looks more like a coiled serpent with large wings than a bird!
more sneaky images of snakes and s's (sssatan the original ssserpent)?.

Bible Students and Christ's presence
by Noumenon inam i correct in understanding that the religious group known as the bible students, who still hold to charle's russell's teachings, still actually belief and officially subsribe to the notion that christ invisibly returned in 1874?
can anyone confirm this?.
if this is correct, i feel this is a glimpse of how the wts will never drop 1914. what may happen is there may eventually be a split, probably shortly after 2014, with a new group dropping 1914 and revisiting all prophecies with fresh interpretations, while jehovah's witnesses will remain with those still dogmatically sticking to 1914, much like the bible students group still hold to 1874.

Pro UN Awake articles & NGO application forms
by Noumenon ingreetings - can anyone confirm for me whether these articles were officially submitted by the watchtower society to the un (to keep up their ngo membership), or did the un just use these articles and post them on their website without the society necessarily having officially submitted them?
i guess the wts had to have given their consent somehow, as a minimum.
what are the mechanics of proving one is upholding un ideals to renew their library card membership?

Dodgy comment in WT 99 5/1
by Noumenon infor any readers of e-watchman's articles, especially his article on 'we have concluded a covenant with death', please note this comment from this 1999 watchtower article:.
"23 we must be certain that our refuge continues to be jehovah and his mountainlike organization.
(2 samuel 22:2, 3; psalm 18:2; daniel 2:35, 44) that is where we will find protection!

What does SOON mean to a JW
by Noumenon inwas reading some early 1990 wt articles relating to the un, and was amused at the expression 'soon' god will and do this and do that etc.
it made me wonder just what does this expression mean to the average jw.
how relative is this word 'soon' and 'shortly'.

"We are also found false witnesses of God"
by Noumenon in1 corinthians 15: 15 says "morever, we are also found false witnesses of god, because we have borne witness against god that he raised up the christ, but whom he did not raise up if the dead are really not to be raised up.".
jw's are guilty of being false witnesses to god in a similar manner as paul states above, because of their insistence that jesus was enthroned as king in heaven in 1914. they need to ditch this unconvincing teaching propped up by it's dodgy chronology.
it's high time to realise that there was no invisible 'parousia' that started in that year, and that christ's parousia is still a future event, to commence when he sits on his white horse and goes into battle at armageddon..

31 things I don't miss about the meetings!
by Noumenon in1. having to sit through 3 of them a week, year after year after year.. 2. talking to the same old faces after every meeting, year after year after year.. 3. tolerating nerdy speakers, often with irritating speech and nasal habits.
many over-emphasing and spending an excessive amount of time on some pet insignificant point and glossing over main points.. 4. quietly fuming at speakers going over time on the service meeting when one is tired and cranky and dying to get home.. 5. cold, draughty kingdom halls with the crudest and cheapest heating and airconditioning installed, if any at all.. 6. attendants (beagles) who go opening up all the windows at half time, or sooner, when it's chilly outside and everyone was just starting to feel comfortable.. 7. feeling guilty cause i never bothered to stay behind to vacuum, dust, or clean the bog when it was our bookstudy's turn.. 8. screaming brats, babies, and fidgety obnoxious kids who squirm, move, whinge, and kick my chair through the entire meeting.. 9. people constancy whispering and talking to each other thru the meeting.. 10. twerps who habitually turn up 10 minutes late every meeting and insist on sitting up the front.. 11. being bored witless with watchtower studies on some dull, dry, doctrinal subject, or some touchy feely, lovey-dovey, emotional subject.
counting the paragraphs to see how much torture remains before escaping back home.

filling a vacuum
by Noumenon insince i've faded i've felt at rather a loss for filling the vacuum of personal study.
i've been working on my own bible reading and study schedule.
at the moment i'm reading a chapter a day (not much i know) from romans right thru to revelation, and a story a day from the greatest man book (i really like this publication as i feel it is helping me just focus more on jesus and helps to de-emphasis the closeness to a man-made organisation).
