with the shit going down on this board as of late i'd like to post something really good that happened to me lately.
i got my brother jw brother back.
back in 2001 of this same month i posted about letting jw relatives go because i got tired of the pain of hoping those relationships would be restored when it seemed impossible.
This is GREAT news Megadude!!!
Congratulations! I'm glad you got your brother back. Keep those ties strong!
I hope the Watchtower drones who we know monitor this site read this and realize that their grip on the rank and file is slipping...

any sugestions?
?i just got a car in march and this will be my first winter driving it.i know i need a snow brush but those are pretty common around here.. anything i should do to the car it's self?
?.
I wouldn't worry about the tune up so much. Today's cars with their electronically controlled ignition systems can run for ages between tune ups. See your owners' manual. It may have some guidelines.
The thing I would consider is your tires. On a car with 50,000 miles, it's a strong possibility that your tires are original. If so, they are worn out-even if they don't appear to be. Radial tires can still have what appears to be good tread and still be worn out.
Also on a car that old in Ohio, you may also want to check your car for rust-through. This could be potentially dangerous, especially in the event of an accident. A friend of mine had a Datsun B210 that unknown to him had rusted out. He hit a guard rail on an icy road and his car practically disintegrated! He said afterward that he couldn't even tell that it was his car.
Mainly though, check those tires and get your coolant flushed.

Did you buy a brand new car or a used car?
If you bought a new car, this first winter your car should not need anything but routine maintenance. If you bought a used car, you should have the coolant checked and have your cooling system flushed and refilled, if necessary. Also check your tires. Driving on icy roads is hard enough, even with good tires.

as many of you know, larc died.
due to my hiatus, i didn't find out until several months after he did.
i was able to get to know him in the few years before he passed.
Thank you for posting this.
It's always nice to remember those who have passed on.
I didn't know that larc had a PhD. That explains why his topics were so insightful. I, for one, learned a lot from his posts. He had a way of writing that could make anyone understand even complicated stuff.
He will be remembered, and he will be missed.

i need a bit of help trying to explain to my wife that the god of the ot was not the same "god is love" of the nt.
she is coming around to the fact that the gb are not the fds however i keep getting the line that god loves everyone and always has.
i will be researching the ot to show her examples of where the god of the ot demanded killing and forced slavery etc.
You should find some good stuff here as well.

julie and i have both known linda for over 25 years, from when she first became a jw, so we decided to write this tribute to her.. we first met linda in january 1981, when she attended her first ever meeting at our kingdom hall.
she had been taking the magazines for a few months, since just after she finished university, and had started studying a few weeks before, but this was the first time she had plucked up the courage to attend a meeting.
julie was having many doubts herself by then, and once again linda was supportive, as was trev.
That was a lovely tribute to a special friend. Thank you for sharing that with us.

or just from everyday people like you and me and christians just held on to it because it gave them something to hope for and put faith in?.
if it really is from god, why are things still so mysterious, i.e.
why are we still in the dark about the future?
Hi Linda
I'm not a believer in the Bible as the Word of God but there are a lot of truths contained in it, as there are in many books. One of those truths is:
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." Matt 7:7 Keep seeking. CyrusThePersian |
