2 cups of rich milk( I use whole milk and add 1/4 c powdered milk or non-dairy creamer, but you can use Half and Half, or dilute whipping cream or yogurt with milk to make 2 cups)

half cup of sugar---unless you are flavoring the milkshake with something that already is sweetened like chocolate mix

flavor of your choice:

bananas-over ripe is best, peaches-cut up in small chunks, strawberries, pineapple chunks, chocolate milk mix(for two servings and sometimes I throw in a dash of cooking cocoa to make it more intense), half cup of smooth peanut butter(also good WITH the chocolate too) or 2 tablespoons of vanilla extract and one egg(not if you are afraid of raw eggs-use egg substitute), instant coffee(double the amount--4 teaspoons)-can also use 1/2 envelope of kool-aid mix or 1/2 pkg. dry Jello in favorite flavor.

blend the rich milk, sugar, and flavor in the blender on high until well mixed and frothy.

divide this in half by pouring half into a pitcher or jar and refrigerate. add to half the mixture in the blender approximately 3/4 tray of icecubes and CHOP--can put the ice cubes in one at a time thru the little hole in the lid, but make sure they are all getting crushed. If you use pre-crushed ice use about 1 1/2 cups. Blend until thickened and smooth. Can add more or less ice to get proper texture. This makes two large servings per blender jar. Dont forget the other half in the fridge!

Prisca, I can understand how you feel about those dark days etc...but don't you think that is putting an awful lot of responsibility on a kid? Giving you a reason to stay alive I mean?

But I know how you feel. somedays the cats are the only reason I still put up a fight. No way my husband would MAKE them cat food and serve them out of three different bowls....

mmmmm filets of Tilipatia(white fish) grilled in foil on the charcoals...with celery, onion, tomato and bell pepper and seasoned with butter and tarragon, dill, parsley and garlic. wrap it up in the foil like a baggy and voila! no dishes to do either. I made white rice with a touch of teriyaki and put the fish and veggies over it with the butter it all cooked in. Ice cold beer. I love Summer grilling! peanut-butter milkshakes for dessert.

as you associate with jehovah's organization, you will find the atmosphere very different from that of temples and churches.

there is no soliciting of money, no backbiting or quarreling, and no discrimination because of family background or financial standing.

the most outstanding quality among jehovah's witnesses is love.

In the 7 years since I left the Borg I have visited every flavor church that has been available to me and I have never once encountered any congregation of people who even measured up to the back biting, gossip and solicitation of money that JWs do. I have been baptized Mormon and Roman Catholic since I left them, and I have to say that I have been freely given money, food, furniture, and kindness, and genuine affection. I have seen politics run blazing hot during a church meeting of catholics, but never once did it degenerate into the bitter and nasty crap I witnessed as a witness. The last year I was a JW I saw a fist fight among sisters in the auditorium after the Special talk! The gossip and malicious slander was the worst. On the surface it was all brotherly love but underneath it was Jerry Springer.

The Mormons don't do that. The Catholics just change parishes if they don't like someone...(LOL) and even the witches I know are not like that. JWs are the worst by far. And yes I have passed the plate and been given that box od envelopes with my name printed on them...but I was never once reproached if I didn't put something in it. Even the Mormons tithe from what you CAN give, not what you can't! And the Bishop's Storehouse is like a grocery store and they never once asked me for anything in return. Damn I miss those Potato Pearls and Cocoa mix.... besides the other religions I have been a part of make you feel like you WANT to participate, not that you HAVE to.

A Tribute To My Cat Simone'

yesterday, i experienced a tragedy in my family.

my cat of 7.5 years simone' died.

two days ago i left for work and she seemed fine.

I am so sorry for your loss. It makes me cry to just read it. Do you know what was wrong? If it was so sudden, please be cautious about using Simone's bedding and food dishes, etc with another cat, it could have been something contagious. I lost a puppy some years ago to parvo and I had to bleach down everything, luckily it worked and I did not lose the other three. I would clean evrything up and put them away in a special place in memory of your beloved Simone. Get new stuff for the new kitty.

I have three now and I love them more than if they were my children.

I believe there was Silence, Womb, Chaos, whatever- and it was basically feminine and it produced without the need of a masculine. And once it produced a masculine was 'born' and it matured and became the consort of the Original feminine to perpetuate the cycle. This can be mytholized(is that a word?--HA! it is now--I am female....)into ancient pagan paradigms or gnostic or xtian or whatever. It does not matter. Humans explain it as they can understand it. Personally I call the Highest One "IF" .

It stands for the word "if" -- "maybe" and all the possibilities, and it is also an anagram for the action that caused IF to become my highest deity--- Infinite **** . I believe the original act of penetration of the primordial womb and ejaculation of the seed of life that resulted in the birth of another life is the ultimate sacred ritual.

I know some on this forum will think I am crazy or just trying to shock, but honestly I really do believe that.

Thinking Too Much About Death

recently i have been seeing too much that reminds me of how i must face death in the not too distant future.

everytime i look at a movie on tv most of the actors that i knew when i was young are dead.

i was looking at some pictures that my mother left me when she died and most of the people i see are dead, cousins, uncles, aunts, old jw people that i knew growing up.

I don't know what to say, except I understand. I am only 41, but I have had a life-threatening disease since I was a child and each time I get sick again it is harder to get well. One of these days it just won't happen I know. It is the pits when you have heard since before you went to school(which I was never going to go to....according to the JWs)that you don't have to worry coz one day you will live in Paradise and be healthy. All those things I couldn't do, or the things I might could have, but was afraid to chance it, becoz I would always have Forever to do them...

I understand.

I feel better when I realize the only thing that was not a lie in the Bible was when the snake told the humans that they would NOT die! There is just no way it makes any kind of sense to me that this life here in this hostile environment, full of troubles and pain and then so short...is all there is. My life force is more dynamic than this human body can hold. There has to something more. That keeps me going.
