last night mr. cb and i were watching the travel channel which had an interesting program about pretzels.
the pretzel was originally made in 620 a.d. by the monks.
the meaning of the shape of the pretzel we found even more amazing.
Interesting !
And I already quit eating the long straight pretzels since they represent ancient phallic symbols.
I guess nachos are safer provided they are not cut in a triangular manner which obviously would represent the trinity.

why do we need to be referred to as newbies?
how does that "labeling status" get achieved, moving up to the top of the labeling process?
and why does the labeling exist at all?
Why do we need to be referred to as Newbies? How does that "labeling status" get achieved, moving up to the top of the labeling process? And why does the labeling exist at all? What purpose does it serve?
Well, if you don't like Newbie, we could use the term "Newly Interested."

i've always had a problem with the hebrew scriptures and the way god was portrayed.
it's like talkin' about 2 different gods.
on one hand you've got a petty, murderous, jealous, insecure sounding god (hebrew) and on the other you've got someone who is supposed to be the epitome of love.
From one of my favorite comic strips (Red Meat), here is one that stuck in my head when I read this thread.

i just saw on tv that a 3 bedroom detached property with swimming pool in florida costs the exact same as my 2 bedroom apartment on the coast in england.
i was totally suprised by this.
as there are quite a few american posters here, i am curious as to housing costs in other areas.
It's all about Location ..Location.... Location
My best friend in Ft. Lauderdale Florida just bought a decent 3 bedroom home with a 1 car garage on a very small lot (about 60' x 70') for about $200,000.
The same in Miami (25 miles south) would be about $250,000. If you don't mind a 90 minute commute each way to work, you can get the same home for about $175,000.

i have noticed on past threads from posters from other countries than the usa that they would be hanging out in pubs and such while still jw's.
in the us i believe that going to bars would pretty much be a df/da offense.
in other countries is the policy different?
No .. NOT a DA or DF thing.
Even growing up in a relatively conservative area, the places that would definitely be frowned upon would be the more run-down places that only served drinks and no food ... typically full of smoke and a place where even I would not really care to spend much time.
In the USA, over the last 20 years or so, the growth of franchises has often replaced traditional bars, places like Chilis, Applebees, TGI Fridays, etc. Although the "bar" is an integral part of the business, there is no longer the stigma of it being a "bad place" for even families to go.
And yes, the microbrew craze has been a big factor. Some of the best food can be found at these places.

ha!
just wondering if there is anything the wbts could possibly say against this wonderful game.
probably the only knock would be that it's so addictive and it would take up all of your time.
Don't laugh, but I do recall an article some years ago (20 maybe) about a professional golfer that gave up the game because of the competitive nature of the sport. Also, it mentioned that you were hoping others playing would not play well since then you would be more likely to win.
You'll have to check you WT CD but there really was an article on it.
