Im guessing there will be ''new light'' Good point. And then the R&F will be blamed for having wrongly believed that some annointed would be alive at Armegeddon. ***** Rub a Dub

Hi I am Caspians sister and this is my first day here.
by Lainey inhello this is my first post and i wanted to introduce myself so here goes.. my name is lainey, and i have not been to the meetings for about 4 years now.. i am 28 and work as a doctor in a big city university hospital as a sho.. also for my sins, i am cassies little sis, and i am staying with him for a little while, as i am signed off sick for the next month with a stress related disorder.. after the death of my older bro and my dad within the past few months, i started suffering from terrible nightmares, most of them connected in some way to my witness upbringing.. me and cassie have talked for some length and he suggested that i spend some time having a look on this site and meeting others who have had similar issues to face in life.. i hope you are all are better listeners than cassie, who tends to fall asleep when i am in the middle of talking to him.
(brothers!!!
) btw he hates being called cassie lol.. anyway i am not a big talker, so i probably wont post a lot, however i am going to scout around for a while.. thanks .

I totally agree with the FDS here. I don't see the big deal. Haven't you ever rescheduled a trip ?

What resurrects, the person or a perfect copy?
by JH ini remember my boss asking me once this question, since he knew i was a witness.
he asked, "what resurrects, the body, the soul, what?.
he knew that witnesses believe in the resurrection of the dead on earth, in a different physical body during the millennium.. i told him that it won't be the same physical body, and maybe won't be identical, but it's the same person.

So then he said "what part of the person resurrects, since it's not the same body"? Since the person is dead, and doesn't exist anymore, and now that person only exists in God's memory, how do we know it's the same person who will resurrect?
The person may do well to investigate several professional sources for help with this issue.
Specifically,I would encourage the person to see the documentary by director W. Allen titled "Sleeper." It is an indepth discussion about the body and soul of a person coming back to life after "sleeping" for many decades. The information focusses on issues that a person waking up after being in an inactive state for humdreds of years would most likely encounter.
Topics include dealing with the initial shock and fear of waking up in the future, caretakers that likely will welcome the person back to life, dealing with then-current technology and adapting to the new lifestyle are discussed.
It's available on video and DVD in most stores.

What JW Teaching Did You Never Quite Totally Accept???
by minimus insince i was raised a witness, it was only as i got older that i started to "think" about what i was teaching and believing.
but even as a young teen, i never accepted the thought that 1975 was going to be the end of the "system of things" and the beginning of the "new system".
i just didn't quite believe that.........what belief or teaching did you have a "hard time swallowing"?

The things that really bother me (and still do) are the "teachings" that clearly are not in the Bible but ... but rather somehow interpreted as truth.
1. Adam and Eve created only 6,000 years ago.
2. The 144,000 being a literal number when everything around it is symbolic and/or figurative.
3. Smoking (never done it and I don't think one should smoke and be in a position of responsibility, but it's no different than being obese. Yet we don't see people being DF'd for being fat.
4. Masturbation. This one was not even mentioned in the Hebrew Scriptures yet the details of sex and even how to cover your poop are discussed in detail.
5. The Pagan thing. Picking out some things with pagan roots as being wrong and others are ok.
I could go on and on .........................

Did anyone see The Guardian last night? (they showed a WT mag)
by Mulan inmy jw girlfriend called me this morning to tell me she watched "the guardian" last night and there was a hospital scene where the main character brought the patient a magazine.
she opened it and said "oh, you brought me a watchtower".
then they talked about how she was going to die and would see her baby soon, which my friend took for their alluding to the resurrection.. .

I didn't see the show but did he ask for a donation before she died ?

Did Jesus disassociate from Judaism? Do we need to DA from the borg?
by BLISSISIGNORANCE inis 'formal' disassociation from the borg a scriptural prerequisite?.
do we have scriptural examples of written statements for disassociation?.
or is it all a jw concept?.

I would say that Jesus was disfellowshipped by the Jewish religious leaders for blasphemy. If I remember correctly, he was not actually disfellowshipped. He was privately reproved and an encouraging talk was given the following week. ***** Rub a Dub

Kennedy Speech on the House Floor
by Yerusalyim inattached is "swimmer" kennedy's attack on bush recently, my comments...which i sent to him in the format below...are in red.. .
http://kennedy.senate.gov/index_high.htmli have heard many of my colleagues today discussing my remarks on this administration's go-it-alone policy in iraq.
the administration has not had a "go it alone" policy in iraq.

I don't necessarily agree with what Kennedy said but at least he has the guts to stand up in public and speak in mind.
Bush won't even give press conferences because his handlers know that he makes a fool out of himself when he speaks extemporaneously.
The last 3 years have been pathetic for this country. At least 2004 is an election year.

276,483 years from now.....
by SanFranciscoJim injehovah's witnesses are taught that they will live "forever" on paradise earth.. let's say the year is 278,486 (assuming armageddon occurred in 2003).
the millenium has passed, everyone has been resurrected, and earth has become the true paradise the jws predicted.. only one problem: you've done everything there is to do.
you've gone every place on earth there is to go.
