2 year old daughter slips from mothers grip
by freedom96 inhere in southern california we have been just pummeled with rain.. here is the saddest story that i have heard here.. a lady is driving her vehicle with her 2 year old, and i think a 10 and 14 year old.
along comes a barrier, blocking people from driving through a flooded street.
she decides to go around the barrier, and gets stuck.
-
SheilaM
I think she needs to at least be charged. It isn't that she wasn't an adult who KNOWS the stories of what happens in flood conditions. She CHOSE to put her family at risk and that is negligence on her part. Being an idiot and her living with her actions are no excuse. If it had been like the case in Kansas where the road just washed away without warning that would be different. She willingly went around the baracade.

Stainless Steel Refrigerators
by carefully faded ini'm shopping for a new refrigerator and wanted to get your opinions on stainless steel appliances.
i love the look of them - but i've heard it is difficult to keep them looking nice because of fingerprints, etc.. .
i've seen some other finishes that look like stainless steel - they have a sateen coating that doesn't smudge and streak like stainless.
-
SheilaM
I sold appliances for years. White on White is something that you don't get sick of but Stainless does look awesome. Whirlpool has a good fridge, Amana I like better...Amana have more options that actually WORK and are reliable. On the stainless if you have little ones running around I would say if you wanna be wiping down the fridge all the time go for it, if just you and a few in the house it can make the fridge look more "upscale." In all my timing selling I sold maybe three Stainless.

I still have yet to seen any proof that she was mentally retarded. She seemed to be very functional until the lobotomy, she was a young girl with mood swings GOSH how abnormal is that

An End To The Quick-Build KH?
by Englishman ini've just been talking with a recently departed dub elder.
he tells me that the wtbts are becoming very wary of lending money for kh "quick-builds".
he says that, in the uk at least, there are brothers who act as building inspectors who have been appointed by the society to make sure that any new kh being built comes up to certain minimum standards before the society will part with any mortgaged money.. this, he says, has brought to an end the era of the quickie partly pre-fabricated kingdom hall, so beloved of the local news conscious dubbies.

The quick build we were on in Cabool Missouri is still standing 19 years later. I may hate the dubs but we had some talented brothers working on the site. I installed the soundproofing in the bathroom

Joe's oldest daughter, Rosemary, was considered shy and mentally limited - symptoms of what many suspect was dyslexia. For years the family had dealt with the problem by sending her away to various special schools and convents. By age twenty-one she had deteriorated greatly, giving way to tantrums, rages and violent behavior. Rosemary was beginning to understand that she would never measure up to her closest siblings, and the resulting frustration led to physical fights and, worse, long absences at night when she would be wandering the streets.
-3-1938 - Joe's wife Rose Kennedy ( left ) with his daughter Rosemary ( right ), who was lobotomized in 1942 -2- - Increasingly, Rosemary was seen as a liability to the family's political ambitions, and in1942, Joe moved to deal with the problem. Without telling anyone, not ever her mother, he arranged for his oldest daughter to have a prefrontal lobotomy at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, D.C. The experimental operation was believed to work wonders with people who had emotional problems. In Rosemary's case it was a disaster and left her permanently disabled, paralyzed on one side, incontinent and unable to speak coherently. She was never allowed to return home, but instead was spirited away to St. Coletta's School in Wisconsin.
- Rosemary's fate and how it was handled was the ultimate Kennedy deception. As late as 1958 the family was maintaining the fiction that Rosemary had become a quasi nun in Wisconsin, content to renounce the glamorous world of her siblings to teach less fortunate children. Today the official family version is that she was born retarded, and that only her mother's herculean efforts had made it possible for her to appear normal.

I had read somewhere she wasn't mentally retarded, she was very normal until the lobotomy. She just wouldn't listen to they tyrant and he had the lobotomy done to control her. I will look through my books and see if I can find the info
Here is one article
Lobotomy was once a treatment for mentally illBy Diane Sparacino
Staff writerLobotomy. An ugly word. An even uglier procedure.
When the confines of a convent weren't enough to contain restive Rosemary Kennedy, the patriarch of that Massachusetts dynasty had his beautiful, soft-spoken but slow eldest daughter lobotomized to gain control.
But the operation, performed in Washington, D.C., by a famed neurologist with strong ties to San Bernardino, went terribly awry. At about the age of 23, her ability to care for herself had been hacked away.
This woman who had been presented at court to the king and queen of England remains today in a cottage built for her at a school for exceptional children in Wisconsin, an infant of 85 in the care of nuns.
Joseph P. Kennedy Sr., father of President John F. Kennedy, didn't tell his wife, Rose, when he ordered the operation on their daughter.
The sad tale of Rosemary Kennedy is well documented by author Laurence Leamer in "The Kennedy Men 1901-1963" and by Jack El-Hai, a Minnesota journalist, and others.
In lobotomy, the surgeon slips an ice pick-shaped instrument behind the patient's eye and with a sweeping motion severs the frontal lobe, where emotion, personality and will are believed to reside, from the rest of the brain. It is then repeated behind the other eye.
Once in vogue and widely practiced, including many times at Patton State Hospital in San Bernardino, it has fallen from favor and has been largely discredited.
It was introduced at Patton in 1951 by the theatrical and flamboyant neurologist who developed the procedure, Dr. Walter J. Freeman Jr., the same man, who with his partner, James Watts, lobotomized Rosemary Kennedy.
