Will the WT get a twitter account?
by bohm inwith the recent success of the website which really seem to be working beyond at least my expectations, will the wt get a twitter account in the near(ish) future?.
those who guess right win the bragging rights.
my guess is no since twitter invite to much discussion, however they will eventually jump on a popular twitter-like social media service when one arise that is more easily controlled..

I have wondered about this. But you look at all the internet walls that have been falling. 20 years ago such things would of been scandalous. Now it's not only right its justify able. I think it will get to the point where they will be forced to. But I am sure of one thing it's not until there is no other option that they will reluctantly change.

I'm just wondering how much punishment they can take. The thing that gets me is just how oblivious those in the congregation are to it. They have just got no idea that this problem even exists. When I tried to bring this topic up with my uber dub relative I got told to " not read overseas news papers because it would confuse me". Now I just keep my mouth shut for fear of ending up in the back room and getting the apostate label. They are going to have to fess up pretty soon. Sooner they do it the better off they will be.

A new member
by LP97 ini'm a 17 year old from scotland.
can i just say this site is absolutely brilliant.
finally found people with open minds and free thought that doesn't just consist of "well the wt told me this so it must be right".. my story is that i'm just like any other child of a jw...brought up into a life of indoctrination where "the world's" thinking is automatically wrong.. that is until i was 14 - a light turned on in my head.

There is one thing that strikes me about the newer posters and that is just how young they are. I always sort of assumed that this would be a place of older middle aged people. But I'm beginning to think otherwise. All the best mate.

6 branches subsidize the rest of the branches.
by hoser ini went to the meeting this morning and we had some guy from overseas bethel give the public talk.
6 countries subsidize the rest.
he said in some countries all the donations that they get from contributions don't even pay the electricity bill for the branch buildings so money has to come in from these 6 richer countries.

I've heard 2 theories.
(1) They are rolling in it
(2) They are struggling
By what I've observed I tend to go for option 2. But on saying that I think they are a far cry from liquidation. They have got enough money stored away to out live me.

It sort of surprises me that comment and then again it doesn't. I remember when I was awakening trying to give the reason for the bethel closures to an elder friend of mine who was also the accounts servant. His comments were telling. Here is how I remember the conversation.
"it doesn't surprise me what your saying. You want to see the literature that comes in and honestly I'm only sending them a few hundred bucks. I actually get embarrassed by it as I know it isn't covering the cost.".
Interestingly I live in a 1st world country, and the brothers congregation who made the above comment was also situated in a very wealthy up market area.

I guess they are hopeing to make the best out of a bad situation. I suppose if they drill it enough in to the public, may be JW.org will be as far as the public will go. But then on the other hand to expect some one to just go to the JW.org web site and not look down at a few lines below that on the search results, is short sighted. But really what else can they do. With all the demonising of the internet in the early days what I can see happening is the GB slowly and very sheepishly allowing witnesses to set up web sites. They physically can't come out and give a directive, as this would mean gods visible organisation having to back track. They obviously have now realised they have to do something. So what else can they do.

2014 MEMORIAL ATTENDANCES FOR REST OF THE WORLD
by steve2 inthe october kingdom ministry for the united states reported the 2014 memorial attendances for the us branch office that has subsequently been well discussed in a separate thread.
in that thread, a poster asserted that in some parts of europe the attendance had been higher than last year - but to date no source evidence has been provided.. so, have memorial attendances for other parts of the world been reported in any of the publications such as kingdom ministryyet?.
if so, could you direct me to the source(s).

Well when you would consider there must be upwards of 1 million + Asians living in a country of about 4.5 million people, and that is only represented by let say half a dozen Asian speaking congregations. It ain't exactly booming growth. But on saying that there is room to grow. I have to say a lot of the Asian immigrants are keen to study (but only in English) but after a couple of months they are gone. I just don't think Chinese have it in them to believe in the concept of a god. I remember talking to a sister some years ago who was studying with an Indian, and just trying to get the concept of the Christian God been the all supreme and not just a deity, was just a completely different concept. Well this is my experience with what I saw. of Asian immigrants in the KH.
