Many people say that work takes them from pioneering. What if one were to get an inheritance, or win the lottery (without admitting it). People will say that they should pioneer. I say no way.

Did you feel pushed into pioneering?
by Xanthippe inso i have been replying to letters from a jw friend who suddenly started writing to me after i've been out for nearly 25 years.. i have mentioned things like the poverty that pioneering causes from my own experience, worrying about having enough money to buy food.. i also said that the scrimping would have been worth it if we had been saving to buy a home or go on lovely holidays.. instead we ended up with nothing materially and we were living in a tiny rented flat when we left.. when i think of all the places i wanted to visit with my husband but couldn't because we were pioneering and had no money and now it is too late because my husband has died at the age of 54. we did get to visit some beautiful places but we ran out of time.. what i was trying to say to her was - life's too short.
stop waiting for the new system, get on with your life.
stop exhausting yourself in that religion.

Did the Apostle Paul teach and believe in the "bodily reserrection of Christ" doctrine?
by booker-t ini often encounter trinitarians that say all of the apostles believed in the bodily reserrection of christ.
they often point to isolated verses in the bible where jesus is called a "man" after his reserrection and this they believe is proof positive.
the seem to throw out all of the verses in the new testament that shows jesus arose "in the spirit" (1 pet 3:18).

This whole bodily resurrection makes no sense. They just take things literally too much without thinking.
How could he take his body to heaven? When asked that they say it is a glorifed body.

When did the Last Days start in the first century
by wizzstick ini've been reading coc and rf highlights that luke 21:28 says: "but as these things start to occur, raise yourselves erect and lift your heads up, because your deliverance is getting near.".
i'm thinking on how no one who saw the start of these things is alive from 1914. as a comparison point, does anyone know when the wt suggests the last days started in the first century?.
was it when jesus said the above?.

In other words, what was the first day of the last days?

Do you think that "Born Agains" will eventually abandon the "Hellfire" doctrine?
by booker-t ini have talked to christians for years on this subject and they all seem more confused then ever.
some born agains have a hard time reconciling hellfire damnation with jehovah's loving personality.
the two just can't mix.

I wish "Born Agains" would abandon the "Born Again" doctrine.

What the heck is a Godhead?
by Rattigan350 ini was listening to the radio, a religous show.. the speaker started talking about how the holy spirit is the third person of the godhead.. they just assume that everyone understands what a godhead is, and it is a manmade term.
that is what makes their point of view so ridiculous.. is it like a godfoot, godear, god elbow?.
they have their scriptures to link the holy spirit with the trinity, and jws have their scriptures to unlink it, and never they two shall meet.. .

You all are just as mistaken as that preacher on the radio.
He was talking about Ananias and Saphira. The part where it said that he lied to the holy spirit and also played false to God. The speaker equated them saying that the holy spirit was God. Not so. The holy spirit is the means that God knows things. Jehovah God does not know things because he is God. He knows things because the holy spirit acts to convey to him
In response to honesty's comment "I didn't believe it when I got saved." This is another topic, but no one is saved as everyone has died.
Sarasmile, you are wrapped up in that aren't you?

I believe it is God's responsiblity to clarify things if it matters.

Old out-of-touch JWs using antiquated terms
by sir82 inever notice how completely out of touch some (most?
) public speakers are?.
last week we had a speaker ramble on for fully 1/3, maybe 1/2, of his 30 minute talk on the evils of "rap music".. i don't believe the term "rap music" has been uttered by anyone under the age of 40 for at least 20-25 years.. this week we got another "older gentleman" warning us about the pervasive dangers of "internet chat rooms".. again - didn't "chat rooms" die out about the same time as dialing up to connect to aol?.

So he left the "c" off of it. It is properly called "Crap music", cut him some slack.
And how about the continued use of the book by "Dr Spock" where he criticizes the spanking of children from the 1960s.
The NWT is modern language even today. The problem is that the expressions translated from are overly complicated and redundant.

Do they still discourage recording the a$$emb£ies and CONventions?
by punkofnice inif so then what are they afraid of?.
i haven't been to a single solitary meeting, conventions or a$$emby since 2010 but i do recall they would announce a discouraging of recording the sessions..

Yeah, but to BORROW that congregation copy, you have to present the elders with a good reason for missing.
So much for the information being life saving.

Look at the bright side.
You no longer have that false god taking time away from your study and meetings and thinking on Jehovah.
(total sarcasm about that Saturday DC talk)
