Another question to ponder...If there was nothing wrong with being associated with the DPI, then why did they ask to terminate their association when it was found out? That is a question that I still have not gotten an answer to from the people that I have posed it to, i.e. family members, elders, circuit overseers. Their blanket answer is, "the society made a mistake." Total BS!

Letter regarding the WTS from the UN
by heybaby inok, so i keep reading on here how the wts was associated with the un.
i had never heard anything about this.
i guess i shouldn't be surprised, since the un is the "beast" and i know the wts would never let the congregations know they were in bed with them.

Thanks to each and everyone of you
by StoneWall inafter many months of lurking and researching on oh so many different topics, doubts, concerns, and viewpoints i decided to get my feet wet and start posting.
many times i wished to contribute something to a thread but was to apprehensive to get an account.
then as time passed and i read many more of the post from various members the uneasiness subsided somewhat and my desire to proceed into previously uncharted waters grew.

E-Watchman and JW Reform
by insearchoftruth ini have read some very interesting and thought provoking articles on the subject sites.
having never been a jw, what is the feeling of a 'run of the mill' witness towards these sites sympathetic towards the general doctrines of the wts, but calling for some major reforms?.

Is e-watchman the same person that put out the book, "The Report" by TWMC? While I don't agree with what was written in that book, it did help to take the blinders off. I would have never read "apostate" literature but on the web it caught my eyes that there were those in the organization wanting reform.

A question for the Irish
by Amha·aret inhiya,.
i hope i'm not overstepping the rules here by asking this.
does anyone know where "john may" is these days?
-
TweetieBird
There were a couple of special talks floating around on cassette tapes a while back. I think it was John May and how his dad put up with abuse from his mom for going to meetings. Am I correct? I remember it being a very moving talk even though the sound quality was poor. There was another one about the last days of Christ on earth (not sure if that one was by John) that was very moving, brought you to tears.

Is It A Struggle NOT To Get DF'd These Days?
by StAnn inseems like when i was young (back when that dinosaur in the green nwt was still roaming the earth), df'd people were rare.
a jw friend of ours was telling my husband (never a jw) that it's almost impossible not to get df'd.
my husband thought that was absurd until he started reading things on this board that folks have been df'd over.
-

In the area I use to live it was quite common, especially for kids of the non-elite. I knew several that had been df'd several times. They would be df'd for a year or two, get reinstated only to be df'd again in a few months.

Men: what do you want us women to know to understand you better?
by LouBelle inus women have always told you what we want, how to be treated, now it's your turn.

Blasty,
I'm 30, and my wife is 28, and sometimes I think were in our 70's already.
Do you have small kids? If so, hang in there. Most women hit their prime around 40 and it only gets better from there. If you have small kids, offer to keep them for her for a few hours so she can go do something she likes, i.e. spa day, shopping. She'll probably rip your clothes off when she gets back home.

I didn't read all of the other comments yet, but would she be open to reading "Crisis of Conscience"? That was a real eye opener for me.

Is it better to stay married one time or have been married couple of times?
by asilentone ini know it is a hard question, i would like to know your thoughts.
-
TweetieBird
I think it depends on the kind of marriage you have. If you are truly in love with your mate, stay married. If you don't get along and it's stressful to be in that relationship, move on. Life is to short to be in a miserable relationship.

Welcome, heybaby...
Jesus said that you will recognize his people by the love they have amongst themselves...that scripture was probably the one that awakened me the most.
I experienced the same thing when my husband was made an MS. It was a short-lived experience fortunately!
