by Jules Saturn init was announced in this year’s annual meeting that they believe that the king of the north is russia and the king of the south is us/britain.
for me this is the first time hearing from the society actually identifying the identity of the king of the north.
very interesting times!

Jehovah’s Witness dating rules
by Addison0998 ini’m sorry that i talk about dating a lot, i know it is probably very annoying, but you don’t have to read it.
but did anyone else have the most difficult time dating as a young jw?
me and my boyfriend have been dating for a year in half, we are in our early 20’s, and we are still not allowed to hold hands, cuddle or kiss.

Yes, I remember those days like it was yesterday, my husband and I have married 25 years ago, just had our anniversary on the 29th of September. We met at a kingdom hall build at the tail end of April, and we lived about an hour and a half away from each other. There was just a small hand few of the JWs that knew we were dating on both sides.
Rumors were flying around like crazy at his end, because apparently once when we were at the mall. A couple of older sisters who were busybodies got it in their head that I was a worldly girl. They didn't even have the courtesy to come up to me and introduce themselves. If they had they would have learned who I was. His elders contacted my elders to make sure he was, in fact, dating a witness. They had learned that I was a former pioneer, and at the time had stepped down to be an auxiliary pioneer. I was a member of the kingdom hall building crew, and that I had been to where the need was greater. Basically, I was very busy in Jehovah's organization. Let's just say those two elderly ladies got into some very serious hot water with their elders.
One witness woman even had the nerve in wanting me to get disfellowshipped. On the night that my husband and I were married, we were heading home after the reception. I had already changed out of my wedding dress, and he did the same. We didn't feel like going back home all that distance wearing our wedding attire. We stopped at a convenience store, bought some stuff for our trip back. While there we did a bit of making out, OK I was wrong, some serious making out if you know what I mean. Where we had parked at was in a dark location of the parking lot so as not to draw attention to ourselves, or at least not to. I wasn't paying attention but my new husband was, and he looked out the window to see some woman making a huge fuss.
Three months later I went back to my old congregation to visit my mom and friends. it was there that a sister was also visiting the congregation as well, visiting her cousin. Apparently, this was the same woman who saw me and my new husband making out in the car that night. She got up in my face and told me that she was going to report me to the elders and that I should be ASHAMED of what I did. I asked her what in the world she was talking about, and she told me that she was that woman who saw me in the car that night making out with some guy. Again she didn't know he too was a witness and that on that very night that happened we were on our way home from our wedding. I told her go ahead and report me to the elders, and she would find herself in the hot seat with the elders because again she did not know all the facts.
I just loved it when I was able to turn the tables on people like that even back then. But yes, it is extremely stressful dating as a JW, vowed I would never do that again. -

What you said reminded me of something that was told to me. I was at an assembly with a friend of mine. She told me if we knew how close we are to Armageddon, we would just die from a heart attack. Yes, I know it was an odd use for the word, heart attack, but she said it. Anyways, that was over 30 years ago.

Doesn't the bible say somewhere that God would expose things done in secret? It's been a while since I last looked through it. Anyways, hopeful any current JW realize that maybe Jehovah is bringing out in the light all thing horrible things that have been done kept secret in that organization. Only the guilty will try to deflect their guilt on to someone or something else.

What changes would stabilize JW membership?
by StarryNight9 ini've seen many topics about how things are changing or might be changing in jw doctrine/culture.
some have extrapolated how those changes would result in declining jw membership.
i'm curious to know what changes others think would stabilize those numbers.

The problem of allowing their members to get a higher education would actually destroy the Watchtower faster than anything else. Simply because higher education encourages independent thinking, and thinking for one's self. My youngest is in his third year of college now, and I have seen a huge difference in the way he thinks about stuff. Fortunately, I left the JWs when he was 4 years old, so he was never forced to listen to the total nonsense that comes out of their mouths, and too young to even remember.
A while back; my husband and my oldest went to my husband's JW aunt's funeral. She was killed in an unfortunate accident. I didn't go because I refuse to ever step foot on JW property, much less their buildings. But I did give my sons a choice, to go or not, the youngest didn't want any part of it; my eldest was curious.
When they got back home my eldest son was extremely freaked out. I asked him what was bothering him. Normally he would shut me out, but not this time. He asked about the funeral talk that they had given. After I had finally cleared up all the confusion he told me what that talk sounded like to him. It sounded just like they were talking about zombies and the walking dead. He caught on to the part about how the dead will rise, and that really got to him. He knows that zombies are not real, but the way they went on about how the dead will rise really freaked him out big time.
So any of you active Jehovahs' Witness who is reading this, you might want to think about how you word those talks. Because people like my son who don't know who you people are, all you do are doing is making yourselves look like a bunch of fools to the family members who have never been associated with the JWs.Scratch that, keep doing what you guys do best.

The sad part about remaining childless because a religion tells them too is this. Once I knew of a JW couple decided not to have any children because of the time of the end. They were giving that talk way before 1987, or at least strongly encouraging it. Anyways this husband and wife both aged, and eventually passed away almost 25 years ago. They had no children to comfort them or care for them when they were old. The wife passed away first, from cancer, and the husband lived another 5 years before time caught up with him and he as well died, alone in his home.

I would say stop the shunning would be number one. I know they say their reason for shunning is to "protect" their members, but it does more harm
thangood, strike that. It does no good. Someone once said a long time ago on this site, that studies have shown that shunning is the worst thing that can be done to a person's mental well-being. I don't remember what all they said, but that was a just of it.But then again those people, at least my relatives who are JWs, are the most TOXIC people on the face of the earth. So in a way shunning does do some good, it keeps those people the out of my life and stops them from playing their mind games on me and my children.
To tell you the truth, I DO NOT want them to change, I want my JW relatives to see them for what they really are. And the only way that will ever happen is if that cult dies out in a very pitiful way, aka a whole lot more members leaving than coming in. Less money coming in, aka donations, and more money going out on lawsuits, and the truth of what they really are.
