Im a non JW and i'm interested in a JW

i went to the meetings and i was bored out of my mind.

Please listen to everyone here, and leave her alone. If you do, you will save yourself a ton of heartaches. I was raised in that cult, starting in 1974, when my mother became one, and I finally left it in 2001. One of the biggest problems I have seen is when someone who is not a JW becomes interested in someone JW. If you choose to go down this path and to stay with here this is what will happen.

You will eventually become one yourself, but I will promise you, you will not be happy. Eventually you will decide to leave the JWs, but by then you and her will more likely have children. This becomes a whole new ball game. Once you become a member, if you ever decide to leave it, you will be facing shunning, that is where all your loved ones who are JWs will no longer talk to you or have any dealings with you. This will include your own children, if they have decided to become JWs.

Or let’s say you do manage to get her to leave the JWs, she will be facing the shunning issue with her own loved ones. Most people are not strong enough to deal with that, and she will return back to the JWs. If you have any children with this woman, she will make things very difficult for you.

I have seen it with my own family, and others many times throughout the years and the results are almost the same. Please listen to everyone here, and RUN, it will save you a lot of problems. Otherwise, you will be like so many others who decided to get involved with a JW, only for it to bite you on the butt later on.

I would never wish that on my worst enemy. I would love for everyone to learn the real truth and get away from that cult.

It all is begging to crumble

i've been mentally out for about two years now.

i am in my 30s and i don't live at home, am not married or anything like that.

i was visiting my mom this past week, i tell you the women has a 6th sense if she weren't a jw shed be a psychic.

Do not go in to any judicial meeting. You don’t have to play their games. All they will want from you is all the details of what you have done between you and your boyfriend. I made the mistake of going to one, it was because of my husband had slipped, and I did not know any better. They asked me all kinds of questions involving sexual matters. They are not there to help but to judge and condemn. To me they are nothing but a bunch of perverted guys who get off on listing to those types of details.

so, they simply don't believe in it.. yet, most christians probably do believe in hell.. .

no, it is pointless to say that one group "follows the bible" and the other group doesn't.. theology is indebted to the influence of "explainers" and "interpreters" who stamp certain things authoratatively.. .

You hit the nail on the head, Terry. When I left back in 2001, my mother stopped by my house and asked me why I left. I won’t go into the long drawn out details of our conversation, but this part. She asked me why, and I told her that I no longer believe it was the truth. They proved themselves as liars with the whole 1975 thing. I also mentioned a few other times that their predictions fell flat. I have no idea why, but she brought up the Trinity issue, I was not even talking about that part of it. I told her since they showed themselves as false prophets; I can’t be a part of that.

Then one of the last things she said to me, was there was no way she would ever walk away from it. She had invested too much of her time to do that. She would rather sit listening to lies that they spew, keep putting up with their controlling issue, than to admit to herself that she was wrong, and to enjoy the rest of her life. None of her relatives, but a very small few are even JWs. Her mother is still alive, and so are most of her sisters and her brother, none of them are JWs and never have been. Her husband never has been a JW. She only has one daughter who is still a JW, her other two daughters left it a long time ago.

i moved in with my cousin deb and her husband bobby at the first of 2012.. this mean i didn't live alone any longer.

that was both a good and a not so good thing!.

i eat home cooked meals.

Let me see, I survived a teen age storm of moodiness, I have two teen sons. I went through another year proving that I could do what I was told I could not do. I really hate it went people tell me that I will fail at something. It makes me more determined to just show them that I can. I don’t know what 2013 will hold for me, I have not set any goals at this time.

I just came across this as well. I know this was originally posted 7 years ago, and the way those people did to you is so typical of the JWs. I have been at the raw end as well because of them, but I won’t go into any details. I would love to know how that has all ended for you all.

i was in an used bookstore this weekend and saw a new world translation and some other society publications.

this made me think, what did others do with their books?

i gave mine to my mother, 22 years ago.

I was so pissed off when I found out I had been lied to my whole life. I had a very huge library dating from the early 1960’s to 2001, mostly original print, had went into the garbage.

since joining this site and having my eyes opened,i find i'm now dealing with a lot of emotions that were suppressed.one being the passing of loved ones,in the org we were discouraged from showing proper emotions due to the fact that if you did you were considered weak since they the dearly departed were only sleeping.now im being bombarded with dreams of my loved ones that i,due to my brainwashing never had the emotional release that i should have had.i'm just wondering how others on this site are coping,and dealing with the fact that everything we was taught was false almost as a way to keep up under control,as we lost years and decades of time.i almost wish i keep my head and the sand and had taken the blue pill.what has helped you all deal with this ...new religion......no religion...etc.

I made my exit from the Watchtower back in 2001, almost exactly one month before the attack on the Twin Towers. I believe that is the only reason why I still remember when I left. But I do also remember the complete roller coaster ride of emotions that I was going through as well. It really helped that my husband left it with me. He wanted to leave it earlier, but he was waiting on me to make the decision to leave as well. We have been each other’s strength and rock. It does get better, but I will let you know that there will be days you will think you have it all behind you, and like a snake in the grass, old feelings and emotions will spring up. In my case, it is anger at all the bull crap, lies, and abuse I had to deal with while I was in that cult, and with my parents (they were very abusive people). The good news is, there won’t be many days like that, but there will be some. I hope that down the road, I can eventually put this behind me, and maybe I can, my memory is getting worse, due to a few head traumas I have had in the past as well. The benefits of getting out of that cult and away from my parents, is so much better, than putting up with their lies, and all the emotion bull that they put me through.

Any successful methods to discreetly reach out to someone who is studying?

my father had me go with him to do a study, and the guy looked like he's a pretty smart guy, and he was asking legitimate questions that i had my own answers to, but of course i couldn't say them.. i'm wondering if anyone has successfully been able to convince/warn anyone that they're getting sucked into a cult.

i wanted to just secretly slip him a note, but i'm always scared to do that from fear of the person throwing me under the bus.

then i got the idea of sending him a text message from a number that can't be traced back to me.

I did once with my next door neighbor, but I did not want her to know it was from me. One day my husband noticed that each week some JWs were visiting her, and they were staying for about an hour. She is a single mother raising a teen daughter who is a handful. So I already knew how they were targeting this poor woman.

I found some information that would expose the lies of the JWs, and printed them up, and put them in an envelope. I even gave her information on where she can find this stuff for herself. I knew what time she gets home from work, and just before she came home I put it in her door. The JWs showed back up a couple more weeks, but after that they stopped showing up. That was almost a year ago, and my neighbor is still free from those people.

i know exactly what happened... he thinks i'm going to die at the big a and wants to be with someone he can live forever with.... we have two girls, ages 3 and 1... i really thought we'd make it despite the religion, now i really don't think so... not sure what to do... .

Hello Cognac, I’m sorry to hear that your husband is being an idiot. But if his reason for leaving you for another woman, and abandoning his family, he will be sadly mistaken on his time of judgment. Even in the JW world he will be disfellowshipped if he does that. I would suggest you to talk to the elders from his congregation, and make sure you have proof; the other woman will also be in trouble as well.
