the very zealous elderly pioneer sister who lives across the street (alberta) has been canvassing the neighborhood for studies.
i watch her walk up and down the street and being very friendly and helpful with her neighbors (all the while preaching to them i'm sure).

IMO, the bottom line is, let them make their decision. It is their life. I know, personally, I have a very difficult time letting others butt in to my business. After all, that is what dubs do, isn't it? Be a friend to them, that is all. If they ask your opinion, offer it. I know, it hurts to say that, but, in the end, you have to let them live their life.

i am a newcomer to this site, and a curious one at that.. i have been dating a guy who was / is to some degree, a jw.
although he no longer attends meetings, and does not share jw's beliefs, he is active in other ways.
for example, he is active on this site; he spends a good deal of time referencing his past life as a jw; and, he gets very angry (but not towards me) every time he hears or thinks about the jw's.
Maybe some who were raised in it have a harder time adjusting to life outside. Maybe some of you who were could reply to this. I was raised in it, and now that I'm out, I feel a little detached. The false sense of love within one's family and circle of friends is difficult to change into something real, once you enter the real world. My entire family is out, and while my parents (who were not raised in it)have an easier time going back to celebrating Christmas, even after 5 years of being out, myself, I still can't get into it. Don't know if I ever will. And not only that, I still have a hard time with my own family. I just can't get close. It's difficult to describe. Anything similar from you guys/girls?

As far as the man, Mohammed, is concerned, the fact that he led military campaigns really shouldn't have anything to do with what happens today. Mohammed was only acting in the context of his day, much like the Israelites on their way to Canaan. Mohammed cannot be blamed for the violence that happens today. It's the fundamentalists, threatened by encroachment of the west, who hark back to the days of the 'rightly guided caliphs'. They insist on living in the 7th century. They are the ones to blame for all of this. While I sincerely doubt Mr. Bush's intelligence, he is right when he says that the vast majority of Muslims are peace loving.
