  'Theocratic Warfare' - Do you know when and where it started?

  we all hear this notion of "theocratic warfare", and how it is used to justify jehovah's witnesses to lie or withhold the truth even under oath, based on the reasoning that we don't owe the truth to those who aren't entitled to it.

  but, can we put our finger on where this doctrine started?

  well, brace yourselves, here it is.

  HOWARD HUGHES, Jesus Christ, and the problem of genuine (original) documents

  bible scholars acknowledge the absence of original writings of the bible or even of the early generations of copies, recopied copies, up through the next several hundred years.since the details of the history, words and activities of jesus and his followers entirely depend on the accuracy and historicity of the bible, i started thinking about a modern day parallel.. ___________________.

  when billionaire eccentric howard hughes died in 1976, the search was on for who might inherit his vast fortune and business holdings..a gas station attendant named melvin dummar stepped forward and told an amazing tale.

  dummar claimed that while driving through rural nevada one night in december of 1968, he pulled onto a dirt road to answer the call of nature.. he says he found a scraggly, bearded man lying injured in the desert.

  Hi Terry,

  Your comparison is interesting. The problem is that Howard Hughes was pretty nuts to do what he did and to leave his affairs in the state that he did.

  And that would be the same problem with the testimony provided within the gospels. When given the opportunity at his trial, if Jesus had showed the Pharisees or Pilate a divine act, the matter would have been settled. Or even if Jesus had shown some exceptional insight to Pilate when he asked: "What is truth?", things would have turned out differently. But Jesus kept silent. What better place to demonstrate truth or divine authority than a court of law (Sanhedrin and the Roman trial)? But he chose not to demonstrate any authoritative power and so he was crucified. He got what he wanted but then still expected everyone to put faith in him. That's not a satisfactory way to prove who you say you are.

  I would also like to draw your comparison further to the modern day. If God was prescient, then allowed almost 2000 years to lapse after his son's death, knew that technology would develop to its current state but then neglected to provide ample proof of what occurred back then, and to top it off insisted that people should absolutely believe in its authenticity, it actually points to a pretty unbalanced nutty super being.

  Look at the way the Titanic film was made, it is the reproduction of a great maritime disaster that happened in 20th C, yet its producers included a love-making scene which exposes the lust... Entertainment industry thrives on filling the movies with lust, greed and violence, which people copy later in their lives. Some of the high profile terrorist attack had its precedence in movies.

  The Turtle story is very very old.

  Its actually from the Greek story teller Aesop.

  Originally it was a frog and a scorpion.

  The line: "The Scorpion replies, "Why? I stung you because this is the middle east, and that's what we do.",

  is where creative license was taken. In the original the Scorpion replies, "It's in my nature."

  Revelation 8:8 Is a comet / asteroid heading here soon?

  i have read a lot and watched some you-tube videos (some by marginally lunatic fringe christians - not necessarily invalidating) searching for asteroid september 2015 or comet september 2015.. there is some biblical evidence that, if one doesn't spiritualize / make literally invalid by symbolic exercise, that at the time of the end of the age there will be a uniquely severe, single great earthquake (isaiah 29:6, zecharia 4:7, haggia 2:6, revelation 6:12, revelation 16:18) and destructive objects described as hail, mountains falling from the sky, stars falling onto earth.

  i note that ancients would not recognize the vastness of outer space and meteroids, asteroids, comets, planets being what we know them as.. there is also the exact symbol of "then the second angel blew his trumpet, and a great mountain of fire was thrown into the sea.

  one-third of the water in the sea became blood, one-third of all things living in the sea died, and one-third of all the ships on the sea were destroyed.

  After this lets say about 10% will be upset that they can't go to Friday prayer at the local mosque. That's about 9000 Muslims.

  About 10% of the above number are so angry they'd be willing to commit an act of violence. That's 900 Muslims.

  Of those 10% would be willing to commit an act of terror. 90 Muslims.

  Of those 10% would be willing to commit a suicide attack. That's 9 Muslims.

  Congratulations Angola. You've just created a new insurgency.

  there's a recent thread regarding the jw indoctrination expressed on the net, particularly instagram.

  from an outsider looking in, i noticed this when looking through jw instagram profiles.

  it came off super cult-ish and robotic along with similar wording used as though everyone, male or female, is a stepford wife (watch the movie for those who haven't seen it).

  This is a travesty.

  Muslims get frustrated because their 'superior' theocratic Sharia law has not produced a superior culture. All that it has resulted in is the dampening of their own creative spirit.

  Democracy will always be more developed in all facets of life compared to any form of tyranny. It is therefore imperative to guard not only the democratic political process, but also its pinnacle: FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
