No, I would not want be there, IF run by curent wt-jw behavior. A re-run of the oklahoma landgrab after armageddon? reserving of rows of waterfront properties practised at assembly openings at 8am? a system run be second-rate thinkers, narcissic power moguls? no, thank you. also:

if you saved and hoarded a penny every million years*, you would own all the copper in the universe before you even finished the first step into eternity. and:

Celestial chariot or broken down cart? Judging the agility of the organization...

i've just uploaded an "end of year" article to my blog.

in my article i explain how 2012 has taught me something i didn't know previously about the watch tower society - that it is painfully slow at responding to important developments.. i cite examples of three recent developments where the society has been slow to respond, or get word out.... the candace conti verdict - media blackout for six days following the judgmentthe appointment of mark sanderson - no official confirmation for months after the appointment was announced at morning worshipthe "new light" on the faithful slave - over a month before officially confirmed on jw.org, and a further month before the information was available in other languagesi then go on to look at the recent video about the watchtower sign and make the argument that, far from being comparable with a lightning-fast celestial chariot, the society has grown slow and cumbersome in responding to developments because it is essentially in love with itself - as per the greek mythological character narcissus.. anyway, take a look at the article when you get a moment, and let me know what you think!.

cedar thank you, there is another topic "thread"? that relates to your story: the slow publisher pioneer-moon walk.

I think the watchtower personnel is slow because they are like blind men walking in the dark(which they are) carefully feeling toes forward where the crocs are.

I had even toughts about the illustration you show . I can not believe that the creator of the universe is being jerked around by inerta - free, instant 3d. accelerations. -I believe - (if this is all valid)-, that the expanse-firmament separates the presence of the creator from the action below, and the chariot is not earthly. has no material counterpart. no earthly agents will be used.- IF I read it right, and it is really meant to be a peek into the spheres above. peace.

Ps. german-speakers might enjoy the term "Verfranzed" meaning hoplessly lost, as a 1930s pilot in the clouds. like "all balled up", appropriately synonimous derived from F Franz, the erratic theologian of the wtbts. "Ver franzed" like confused, misguided by/ or like Franz.

genesis and meat eating?

today i added a new article to my blog sharing research that hardly any of jehovahs witnesses is aware of yet much impinges the watchtower organizations doctrinal prohibition of blood transfusion.

a great deal of time and expense went into collecting and constructing this research and hopefully concerned folks will make good use of it.

blondi, this fabulous fabel leaves many questions about the diet; why would God allow and go along with this experimentation on worship? Does it mean that we have great leaway? as we obviously have to do research rather than revelation in all fields of knowledge? Why would god favor, on other than prophetic grounds, the offering of discarded meat unfit for human consumption? did Abel kill, or was this carcasses left after natural animal death and skinning? petfood? since "domestic" animals were present in/outside Eden. Why were Cain's vegetables not a worthy offering, since it was sweaty and hard work to grow crops in the cursed ground? since sheep could it weeds? no wonder Cain was mad. thank you. offtopic message: any wt references to "Col 1:13 kingdom" dicussion?

it was a number of years after i left the watchtower that i finally admitted to myself that i had never really investigated evolution.. i thought i was already an expert on the subject despite everything i knew about it coming form a source that was attacking the theory.

when i began to reserch evolution objectively i was astonished by the breadth an depth of the evidence.

i have been reading books and articles on the subject for around ten years now and always find it to be fascinating and inspiring.. a couple of years ago i began to write a summary of dawkin's book on the jws forum with the intention of helping any lurking jws who could not dare be seen reading the book for themselves.

Cofty thank you, but this what happened to me. I read all of Dawkins books except one, not available here. with my 9th decade brain nothing really sticks, but my overall impression was that nothing he presented would not have happened if an intelligent, but uncaring creator would be the originator of the evolution mechanism. Even his simulation of evolution requires the existence of a setup that had to be cleverly conceived. so here (still) are my great shows:

appearance of space, energy,matter, (movement in) time,

appearance of life + evolving of species

appearance of the human mind including religious compulsive behaviour

keep us further enlightend even if its hard sell. blessings.

there is an enhanced telescop photograph of the milky which way on "Astronomy picture of the day" nasa site "archive". DEC 12 2012- to the naked eye, the milky way never has color , you can not see the dust lanes., . with dark viewing it is much more remote and grandiose, reaching from horizon to horizon. . these wt pictures are just to pick at during the interminable ruminating .

The 144,000

i was reading in revelation 7 yesterday, where the 12 tribes of the sons of israel are named and where we learn that 12,000 from each tribe are sealed.

how do the jws explain that the 144,000 are identified as israel - and identified so specifically that the 12 tribes are named?

be gentle with me when answering.

honeybucket: sorry, you misread my short hand. what I read is: the 12 tribes are all christians, the Israel of God. - Since Pentecost up to the great tabulation, angels seal 144 000 out of all christians. its easy, its the martyrs, stephen, paul etal.- They join Christ in heaven PRIOR to the great tribulation , . -The great crowd are all christians that live in the aftermath of that biggest disaster ever, --- There are none of the 144 000 among the great crowd, not even temporarily.

the "chosen ones" of Math 24:22 are not the remnant but are described in Isaih 65. ----ALL this of course, IF THE WHOLE BIBLE STORY IS NOT MADE UP.--

where WT fails,- is to identify the 12 tribes as ALL Christians, All called ones, and wt is wrong in saying that the"chosen ones " are the "anointed".

sometimes i find it hard to deal with all the different beliefs represented on jwn on all sorts of things.

it seems there are always debates going on about everything -- the existence of god, the trinity, the bible, politics... you name it.

as another year comes to a close, i thought i'd try to focus on things we share, things that draw us together.. here are several that come to mind.
