How important is it to love someone in your life?

how important is it to have someone special in your life?.

when i was a regular pioneer, i was constantly hearing that i should put off getting involved with any romantic relationships because i would want to spend all my time with my new love, and i would give up serving as a pioneer.. after i left the borgs cuckoos nest, i still had to put off getting romantically involved in long-term relationships because of wanting to be a full time college student.

later in life, i put off involvement again because of career options.

However, love is crucial to a well developed human being.

Studies have been performed that children who are deprived of love and physical contact grow up with severe mental and emotional disabilities. Some even die.

I've been a JDub all my life and have known nothing else, and I do NOT EVER remember the WTB&TS saying that a person could not develop a relationship with someone of the opposite sex.

However, they never said that a person could not go to college either, yet I still shake a shit stick at the WTB&TS. When it all boils down to the brass tacks, it was I, who decided not to go for my dream. I gave up too easily. I eventaully went to college, but not for the dream, I settled for something. A dream only comes once, if you give it up, you give it up forever.

Today, because I do not handle stress and aging very well my health suffers, sometimes severly for it.

Thomas, there is NO next life, this is it. It's like Woddy Allen said in Love and Death when the grim reaper had taken him away: "I got screwed." In the end we all get screwed.

Armageddon is a BIBLE thing, not a JDub thing, and yes, one of it's intents from a BIBLE viewpoint is to keep people on their toes.

the volume of work to keep up with is absolutely staggering. Also, since the WTBTS has vascilated so much on issues it may be difficult to know where they stand at any given moment.

I cannot blame a person for not knowing all these things. When a person comes here and posts, they don't have the knowledge of the entire universe, unless of course you're AlanF.

Also, why do many here keep spending time in the distant past. "The society used to teach this and the society used to teach that..." how long is that excuse going to last. I used to believe that babies came from storks (hyperbole) does that mean I'm a liar today because I now know that babies come from watermelon seeds, or as I have heard others say, "...from the cabbage patch" (again hyperbole). If I'm over your head AlanF, let me know (grasshopper).

There are(?)/were people alive in the 20th century that still believe/d that world was flat. Some people still do not believe man made it to the moon.

Does a person have to rehash everything from start to finish about how they got to a certain point or what they used to believe in? If science operated that way there would be no advancement.

Don't get me wrong, I too have this tautological wrestling dilemma (as well :)

if we don't change in response to what we learn -on this basis then truth could never be found. It's either we have it all or we have none?

Your Most Embarrassing JW Moment

im just curious about this:.

mine is stupid, but thoroughly humiliating at the same time.. my mother made me wear high heels for the first time to an assembly when i was 15 years old.

it was all snow and ice that day, but i made it inside fine without slipping.. during the first session, the naughty girl that i was, had gotten bored, so i decided to go to the restroom.. i guess the floors were wet or something, because i slipped and fell down about 17 or 18 steps.... head over heels, quite literally.. i landed at the bottome with my dress up over my head, showing off all my under "wares: lol!.

Not me, but my brother.

He was away for a while up in Alaska and came back.

ASSembly time rolls around and he's meetin' people he hasn't seen in a while.

I said to my brother: "You remember Mike." (we went to high school together, which at that time was 4 years or more in the past)

He said "Yeah, I remember Mike. How are you doing? Good to see you again. Who is this with you? Is this your mother?"

It was the guys wife!!! She was much older than him. You know, one of those poor idiots who thought that the new system was around the corner and was going to make everything right, and that age the difference wouldn't matter.

Tuff luck, he's younger than me and stuck with a wife @20 years older than him.

BTW I know a guy whose age difference with his wife has got to be at least 30 years or more.

The Ressurection

if the dead are not to be raised, then let us eat and drink for tomorrow we are to die.. these words raise a challenge to so called christians.. the challenge is this: does your life reflect that you believe in the ressurection?.

the main thinking of being absorbed in a lifestyle of having a good time is this: you are a long time dead.

in other words if your life is taken up with having a good time then your ressurection hope is being forsaken.

There is beauty in diversity, in the language respect anyway.

One of the purposes in confusing their language was to enforce the divine command: To multiple and fill the earth. At the tower of Babel their express purpose appears to have been to contradict that divine command.

Sure, language has caused many barriers and confusions and I believe, wars. What's that got to do with God? He does something and then we demonstrate time-after-time our inability to handle it. We arrogantly strut our superior intelligence and along comes God to humble us again. We think we have it all and can conquer any challenge (one of the things implied from the tower of Babel). God says: "Yeah, but what if we do this little thing here?"

Imagine, if we suddenly lost something as simple as electricity, for a day, a week, a month, a year. First thing, there go ALL our powerful computers (backup batteries can only last so long). There would be world wide panic, in just about every facet of life. We're back to smoke signals and banging on drums for long distance communication.

We generally feel bad for people who do not have electricity, running water, telephones, etc. But now they will become the lucky ones. It would be a challenge, if you will, that will destroy everything WE think is important.

I hope you understand the point I am making.

The power of Christ's rule is, in part, to demonstrate unifying affects of nations, peoples, and tongues.

I cannot imagine God directing such a book that can be the cause of so much conflict and confusion between humans.

The bible itself records Jesus saying that he brought a "sword" Matt. 10:34 The division would be caused by someone who does not accept the "troof." Not by the person accepting it.

If people want to go on living their lives the way THEY THINK IS RIGHT then that is their business. It was this decision crap, of persons deciding for THEMSELVES what THEY THOUGHT WAS RIGHT.

I would also think that all this confusion demonstrates that we are in need of a higher source to direct things. Without God we are lost.

What irks me is when a person says that God does not condemn their lifestyle, whatever that might be, and then they reinterpret the bible to be "politcally correct" according to human thinking, and therefore nullify the teachings of the bible. Ergo their lifestyle is no longer wrong.
