do you think that when people leave the religion that they are basically now, “normal”?

or do you think it’s more a work in progress?.

The wife and I were converts in our late teens and walked the tightrope with both our family`s so never had any real issues with them once they realised we took our "new" religion seriously.

We had a pretty normal relationship with them but just did draw the line sometimes .we accepted them thinking our example might bring some of them in ,which it did in a couple of cases ,and they accepted us .

And when we all left at various times there was no fanfare about it we just slotted in as normal family members.

when confronted with angus stewart’s blunt question “do you see yourselves as jehovah god’s spokespeople on earth?” the answer that came from jackson’s lips was astounding.. “that i think would seem to be quite presumptuous to say that we are the only spokesperson that god is using.

the scriptures clearly show that someone can act in harmony with god’s spirit in giving comfort and help in the congregations, but if i could just clarify a little, going back to matthew 24, clearly, jesus said that in the last days ‐ and jehovah’s witnesses believe these are the last days ‐ there would be a slave, a group of persons who would have responsibility to care for the spiritual food.

so inthat respect, we view ourselves as trying to fulfill that role.”.

I was always under the impression that JW`s were only to take an affirmation to tell the truth in a court of law and not to be swearing on anything ,especially the Bible .?

"Let your answer yes be yes and your no be no",

Matt.5:34-37 "However I say to you do not swear at all......For what is in excess of these is from the wicked one"

Geoffrey Jackson did take the oath and swore on the Bible to tell the truth and ... at that same A.R.C. took the option to take an Affirmation to tell the truth.

However he chose to swear on the Bible to tell the truth.

hello all interested persons,.

whilst driving to work this morning listening to the radio, my ears pricked when the presenter began talking about jws.

it was on a programme which airs between 8.00 and 8.30 entitled am, and broadcast on the abc national radio.

It wouldn't be beneath them to just let the local congregations in Australia fend for themselves.

I think that is on the cards.

I remember when I first heard about this I just could not believe it ? when i was newly associated with these forums ?

I thought ,now they have gone too far making these claims , the ex JW`s that is.

, There is no way the JW`s would have been involved in any way with the UN organization , I remembered quite clearly the WT /JW saying that the United Nations was the counterfeit kingdom of God presented to the people of the world .

How wrong was I ,it has been indisputably proven beyond any reasonable doubt the proof of the matter .

Not only by the U.N. but also by the admission with a lame excuse by the WTB&TS itself.

Tsunamis and Volcanos: why?

volcano eruptions and tsunamis kill at large scale and very often, without warning.

how do believers explain these away?

jehovah's witnesses say that humans die and suffer due to the original sin, but what do volcano's and tsunamis have to do with it?

OTWO ,those answers may have satisfied a JW giving them ,but I don`t believe it would have satisfied anyone else, certainly not me.

When I was a practicing JW ,I would have said that in a perfect world under God`s Paradise such events would never occur .

Just as Jesus proved he was master over nature ,Jehovah God would surely be able to do so.

Meetings

so remember how assembling together is a command and no man or government can stop us, even if it means going 'underground', even if means being arrested, jailed, beat....can't stop us from assembling together----until covid.

now it's "false regligion" fighting for their constitutional right to meet together while the jws seem to be perefectly happy zooming their lives away..

Other Televangelist religions seem to be coping money-wise so I dont see why JW religion would not do so also.

If it morphed into just a TV religion, they could still sell their merchandise and receive donations ,maybe they may not be as big as they are now ,but they could still carry on and reap the benefits of selling all of their property worldwide ,that would be in the billions of $$$$$

When the "Writing Is On The Wall" you need to take heed of it and make the best of it.

how do spouse's treat their partners if they leave the cult?

so i was fortunate enough to have a wife that listened and saw what i was saying was true and that the cult is bs.

but i wonder how bad it is in a relationship that one goes out of the cult and the other stays in.

i can see that being a real issue for a marriage.

My wife and 2 boys managed to leave within a few years of each other due to various circumstances.

As did a couple of others in the extended family.

Out of about 8 only one niece is still in it.

And not being Judgeable ,but both her teenage boys seem to be a bit effeminate ,so I will just wait and see what develops on that front.

I will be there to support them if it ever came to that and they needed me.

We were one of the lucky ones.

Profits ,Not For Profit ,and Prophecy ( Profitcy )

i cant get my head around how a religion ,like the jehovah`s witnesses can be a not for profit organization ,that profits $ from wheeling and dealing in real estate ventures $ ,and also profits from being a multi media publishing company $ that in its heyday profited from volunteers selling their literature and now its venturing into the digital age of tv imaging ,video conferencing ,dvd`s and whatever else they can use.$$$.

making $$$ profits from all of these activities while still claiming to be a not for profit religion reaping in the $$$ profits selling prophecy (profitsy $$$).

it`s about time governments woke up to this charade ..
