UC Berkeley Study on Disaffiliation from JW

i'm a uc berkeley student researching the effects of disaffiliation from the jehovah's witnesses.

i'm not ex-jw but i am ex-mormon and as your cousin i can sympathize with the struggles we face when we question/leave the religion.. i currently have a survey open which closes on sunday the 20th at 11pm.. if you meet the criteria i encourage you to take the 20-30 minute survey.

-be at least 18 years old-born/raised jw (born in or family converted when you were minor)-"left" at least 6 months ago (left=inactive and questioning/non-believing).

three teens were convicted of stealing and the punishment is cut off their fingers.

some past punishments were finger and foot removal.

pretty barbaric but i bet they don’t have too many looters there..

Why Jehovah`s Witnesses are wrong emphasising the name Jehovah.

hi friends, feel free to correct me where i`m wrong with this post.after all it`s just my observation of jw`s and the bible.. in the beginning of gods dealings with adam it was on a personal level , god to man so to speak.. god then dealt with humans via the patriarchs , then with the levi priesthood ,then judges ,( and a woman was a judge ) then kings ,somewhere in between all of this prophets played a major part ,and then came jesus christ the messiah.. and to my knowledge god has not validated a successor to him with any evidence i`ve seen .. jehovah`s witnesses claim to be christians but have with no new testament backing usurped jesus with jehovah.. this period of time ,until god says otherwise ,christians are to give honour and glory to none other than jesus christ .. that is the name that is above any other name until god says otherwise.

phil.2:9-11. not the name jehovah .the bible never says anything about a kingdom of jehovah ,the coming kingdom is the kingdom of jesus christ with his associate 144,000 earthly subjects.. this is just my understanding of what the bible actually says .. whether i believe it or not is another matter..

Thinking about Flipper

Do Other Sheep have Eternal Life Now?

one of the benefits of justification is eternal life for believers.

i found an interesting passage from the wt, june 15, 1974 which reads:.

"it is to the spirit anointed christians who will rule in that kingdom that most of the christian-greek scriptures is directed, including the promise of everlasting life.

I have been out for about 27 years now and I thought JW`s taught the anointed gained immortality whereas the other sheep gained everlasting life providing none of them rebelled against Jehovah God.

He always had the option of ending your life if he chose to do so ? I could never understand how imperfect humans could gain immortality ,thinking you could never die ,however I was corrected by that as being untrue.

GOD always held the upper hand.

Then I couldn`t see what the difference was with everlasting life and immortality?

does anybody know what this message will contain ?

is it designed to provoke a response that will bring persecution on the religion ?

or is it just going to be some meaningless weak campaign to get the rank and file all excited about it and achieving nothing.. or is it going to suggest to the government officials that this mob could very well be the next jonestown /wacol incident and we need to act now.

Upcoming Neutrality Talk Oct 26, 2020

thanks petra and atlantis for providing the latest announcements from the watchtower.. they are telling congregations to replace the 15 minute local needs talk in the midweek meeting of october 26th with a talk on neutrality.

i am not sure if this is due to there being a usa election on tues 3rd, november or because of their worldwide preaching campaign targeting government officials.

it does sound like it is due to the usa election due to comments about propaganda and political promises.

Doesn`t Romans chapter 13 indicate that Christians / Jehovah`s Witnesses are to be involved and support the ruling governing authorities as this is the arrangement of GOD and those that take a stand against this arrangement are taking a stand against GOD ?

Cheeessuuusss some of you people must have been in congregations from hell .I was in about 7 different congregations in two seperate states in Australia. In all of those congs most .brothers and sisters were either an employee ,or they were self employed or owned their own business and employed some brothers.

In my first congregation the PO and his assistant were both fleshly brothers and both were employed as " Life salesman". Other self employed brothers were house painters, Tilers ,Builders ,plasterers,electricians and plumbers An ex missionary and his wife ran a beauty salon that my wife was employed as a beautician.at one stage. Both my sons were employed by brothers at one time or another..I myself had a full time job It was never a problem in Australia in my experience ?

And it was a great social life that we experienced for many years .Maybe that was why it took 33 years to wake up we were having too much fun and could overlook problems that were beginning to mount up until we could no longer overlook them anymore.

I truly feel for you people who were living in these shit congregations that sucked the soul out of you .

As for GTTM`s I`m sorry you are going through this ,obviously she is not going to be challenged by doctrines that not being a big deal for her it seems she is just emotionally attached to the religion and it`s social life and a feel good feeling about it.

That`s the bubble that needs to be burst .How you do that is up to you ,you know her best .Many people are in the religion purely because of emotions ,feeling good about a new system where they pet pandas and lions all day eating oversize grapes in a house that`s been leftover from some rich dude in this system .

Totally unrealistic.

They will be told what to do and what they can`t do by a GB in the new System and it won`t be up to individuals to choose what they can and can`t do .

Big Brother will dictate with rules and regulations how paradise will be run.
