of all the things people decided they needed to stockpile for a potential quarantine.

all of the stores around my area ran completely out of toilet paper this last weekend.

people were piling it into their carts and vehicles as if they were going to be holed up for a year.

I went down to the store today @ 7:10 am as it was for seniors / disability people only for the first hour.

No toilet paper,no tissues,1 pkt. of paper towels left which I got ,pasta,rice ,flour all gone .

Oh ,and their were two policemen at the end of the aisle apparently to secure order with no fights breaking out over toilet paper ,and their was none to be had anyway.

This is a seaside fishing town of about 5-6000 people , normally.

I can`t get my head around why people are so pre-occupiable with toilet paper.?

It`s not as though its a shitty disease ?

War question

hi, my father is a jehovah's witness.

my sister wanted to do something nice for him and decided to have a shirt made with the ship he was on when he was in the navy many years ago.

he was not in the war, but he said that he can't wear it because jehovah's witnesses don't believe in war.

Jehovah`s Witnesses like to pick and choose what scripture they will obey and those they don`t like or contradicts their beliefs. So you will have an uphill battle with this question.

First off J.W`s do believe in war ,they believe in the" War of the Great day of God Almighty at Armageddon" by Christ Jesus/Jehovah God.

That will kill billions of people man woman and child simply because they are not Jehovah`s witnesses anytime soon.

Jehovah God is well known as being a war God in the Old Testament. He sanctioned many wars including genocide of many peoples and Nations.

In the New Testament Cornelius an army officer of the italian band was favoured by Jehovah God and accepted while he was in the army and there is no indication he ever left or was required to do so.

I wish you well in talking to your father ,but i`m afraid it will fall on deaf ears .

There is a scripture in the Bible that is applied to false gods & Idols ,however I find it aptly applies to Jehovah`s Witnesses.

Psalm 115: 5-8

"Eyes they have but they cannot see,

Ears they have but they cannot hear,

and a mouth they have but they cannot speak."

that is The Truth About The Truth , ( TTATT) but that`s just the way I see things.

theocratic events at this stage congregation meetings will continue to run as normal.

no publisher should feel obligated to attend congregation meetings at this time if they feel concerned or anxious about doing so.

Their is a scripture for every occasion and JW`s are masters at using them to their advantage .

The current global pandemic reminds us of the description of the ride of the fourth horseman in Revelation chapter 6, which includes mention of “deadly plague.” These events strengthen our faith that we are living in the final part of the last days.

"The Bible is like a musical instrument that you can play any tune on." to fit your agenda.

Of course they omit the fact that the earth and humanity have suffered many plagues throughout the centuries and the "end" didn`t come then.

this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.

latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.

the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

And, yet, it's said that laughter is the best medicine. And we'll certainly all go crazy if we don't try to keep at least some sense of humor in the midst of all this.

So allow me to pass on some advice (that someone sent me) from a few illustrious saints and even a couple of notorious sinners.

It may depend on how many of them get sick themselves and realise Jehovah does not protect them from these crises at all ?

But then again they may very well think "I didn`t die ,so Jehovah must have spared and protected me through this crises"

How many times does a JW have to be let down with JW expectations about the GT, or the big A before the penny drops that it is all a scam ?

More than likely the Elders would say something like " Your not happy with the body Jehovah gave you? "

" Why do you want to do such a thing ? Making yourself a sex object ?"

No Meetings, preaching work and circuits for JW's in Holland because of SARS-COVID-19 / Corona + Memorial only for JW's

today all jw's in holland are informed that all meetings, the preaching work and the circuits are halted / closed because of sars-covid-19 / "corona".

first till march, 30 and then maybe longer.. the first time that the jw work in holland completely stopped.

the memorial will be held only for jw's.

Maybe they should just do the Memorial on line instead of having it at KH`s where everybody could log in and observe it ,wouldn`t that be the most sensible thing for the GB to organise ?

Under the circumstances ?

Otherwise ,having all of their members congregating at KH`s all over the world could be just passing a death sentence on all of the elderly that will attend this meeting .

They are for the most part only observers so why can`t they just do it on line where everybody can log in and observe the celebration of the Memorial ?
