Today all JW's in Holland are informed that all meetings, the preaching work and the circuits are halted / closed because of SARS-COVID-19 / "Corona". First till March, 30 and then maybe longer.
The first time that the JW work in Holland completely stopped.
The Memorial will be held only for JW's. No guests allowed.

Why cant they have the memorial only for the anointed. That would be even safer

Which is quite odd considering that
more than 99.99% of those attending are merely 'respectful spectators'.
Jesus never invited any spectators when he initiated the memorial (in fact he kicked one out).
The Bible doesn't say spectators must watch the anointed pass the bread every year.
There was no provision in the Pascha meal for people not to join in the meal. Egyptians were not invited into the homes of the Jews to watch them eat. No, not even the Egyptians that later joined the Jews on their exodus (according to the myth).
So 99.99% of JW should have no issue staying at home and do some personal Thanksgiving.
Of course, the GB now all this, they just don't want JW to realize it too.
Maybe they should just do the Memorial on line instead of having it at KH`s where everybody could log in and observe it ,wouldn`t that be the most sensible thing for the GB to organise ?

Otherwise ,having all of their members congregating at KH`s all over the world could be just passing a death sentence on all of the elderly that will attend this meeting .
They are for the most part only observers so why can`t they just do it on line where everybody can log in and observe the celebration of the Memorial ?
Lets hope other countries will follow the lead of Holland. It looks like the governing body are leaving it to local branches to decide what is possible and what is not regarding meetings and preaching.

Leaving it to the local elders/branches certainly limits the gubbering body liabilities.
The WTBTS is a corporation that has a history of being reckless with the health and welfare of it's followers.
It paid no lip service for anyone who died for want of a life saving blood transfusion. They never apologized for declaring transplants cannibalism for over a decade.
They never apologized for declaring 1975 as the end of this old world. Just blamed it on those who believed the Society had it right....not.
My rule of thumb is anything the Society calls new light or the ultimate truth isn't. Do not attend a memorial because the Society deflects who and what Jesus was and what he had to say. This is a soulless corporation event. It's purpose is to count numbers.
So if I understand this latest piece of bullshit they don't want the public to attend......... just kill off those crazy JW's who think heaven is their final destination.
Stay home people and pray if you must, sip a glass of wine and nibble a cracker. There is no point in attending a JW event that is meaningless.
