Misquotes, Lies and deception in Watchtower Publications
by jwfacts ini have just finished an article misquotes, deception and lies and would like your comments, proof reading, and any other examples that you think are important to add.
most of these already appear on jwfacts.com within specific articles, but it is more powerful seeing them included together.
there have also been a number of requests over the years for such a collection.

Dear happy@last,
I hope everything goes well for you today. I admire your courage and strength to stand up for yourself , even if it has been many years. I hope you find the desired closer.
How you wrote of the snow falling gave me a sense of calm. Maybe this is your touchstone for inner peace during this time.
My thoughts are with you today.
Let us know how it went .
Hugs

That's me back after my trip, spent 6 hours in the interview room and have a lengthy statement, I'll see where it goes from here. I was drained after but happy to have done this, it is scary to see 5 years of abuse written down in chronological order, some people are very sick!
I has given me a sense of relief, for me it was the right time to do it, having suffered a nervous breakdown and come through it a couple of years ago, I knew I could face talking for the first time in my adult life about the things I suffered. These events took place 30 years ago, and I am only just able to speak of them.
Anyhow, I really appreciate all the messages of support, and look forward to a busy, fulfilling weekend. The sun is out today and I am starting to feel normal again.

Coca Cola Death? Should i sell my KO stock?
by skeeter1 incoroner says coca-cola addiction responsible for womans death neetzan zimmerman .
when 30-year-old natasha harris of invercargill, new zealand, died of a heart attack three years ago, her family suspected the cause of death was linked to her extreme fondness for coca-cola.. drinking as much as 10 litres (2.5 gallons) a day left the mother of eight with myriad health problems, including cardiac arrhythmia, rotten teeth, and a full-blown addiction.. "(she would) go crazy if she ran out... she would get the shakes, withdrawal symptoms, be angry, on edge and snappy," harris's mother-in-law said last year.. harris's husband, christopher hodgkinson, recalled how his wife's health quickly deteriorated in the months prior to her death.
"she had no energy and was feeling sick all the time ... she would get up and vomit in the morning," he said.. coca-cola has persistently maintained that, despite her daily consumption of twice the recommended caffeine intake and over 11 times the acceptable amount of sugar, harris's death could not be definitively linked to her coke habit.. but a coroner report released today claims to have done just that.. wrote coroner david crerar: "i find that, when all of the available evidence is considered, were it not for the consumption of very large quantities of coke by natasha harris, it is unlikely that she would have died when she died and how she died.".

In the BBC report on this the coroner said the following:
"The fact she had her teeth extracted several years before her death because of what her family believed was Coke-induced tooth decay, and the fact that one or more of her children were born without enamel on their teeth, should have been treated by her, and by her family, as a warning," TVNZquotes his statement as saying.

Short Introduction and Reply to Lazarus
by Fading Begins inhi lazarus - i'm new here, and i'm a little disturbed by some of the judgmental comments i have read here concerning your situataion.
isn't that what the borg has done to all of us?
each individuals situation can only be judged if that person walks in your shoes.

I'm glad the elders don't hassle you, it would be a lot tougher if they constantly belittled you and highlighted your failings when it comes to being a 'good publisher'. How sad for your mom too to have lost 2 of her children, I understand why you want to stay for her, and am glad you can do it on your terms.

Is the grass greener on the other side?
by What Now? inhi all.... so my mom phoned me up this morning and said she needed to talk to me about something.
she asked me whether or not our (worldly) family thought that my husband and i were witnesses anymore.
one, someone in my family said to her, "i didn't know you guys wear short dresses like that" - commenting on a slightly above the knee dress i had worn to a family event.

Hi What Now, it is always tough when you are at the crossroads, when the path you need to take is one you've never taken before, it's always easier to go for the one we think we know.
The path you know however is not reality, it is a veneer, it is superficial. The people you believe you can trust are not who you think they are. Could you trust them with any doubts you may have about the Watchtower society for instance, or would they tell you to see an elder about it?
As to instilling morals in your son, that's your job, not any religion or school, there are people all over the world who are not JWs with high moral standards, and there are many self help books for bringing up kids if you need a bit of guidance. You will never find a perfect society of people anywhere, but please for the sake of your sanity and your son live life for you, and not because someone else is telling you what to do and living in fear because you're not doing it according to their rules.

I'm sitting in my office watching the snow falling, the drive in this morning was beautiful seeing the snow on the trees, when I went to bed last night there was no snow to be seen, it's lovely when it is fresh.
I am going into a police station tomorrow for a full day to give a statement about my JW abuser to do with events that took place many years ago, so I can hopefully get closure. I live no where near the area now, so have my bag packed and will fly out this afternoon (snow permitting).
I am normally quite a positive person, not so much today though.
