More regrettable foods...this time from Weight Watchers
by starfish422 inthe regrettable foods site had me splitting my sides; here is a collection of weight watchers recipe cards from 1974. they are as gross, and as hilariously funny.
the names they came up with for the recipes are astounding.
here's the link: http://www.candyboots.com/wwcards.html best not to read while you're eating or drinking anything, unless you have some paper towels handy.

Embarassing moments you witnessed?
by starfish422 in.
not yours; but those of others you had the good fortune to watch happen.
my favourite is the time we had the co and his wife for lunch after field service, and my mum swore in front of them.

Your reason for remaining anonymous on the boards?
by starfish422 injust wondering why you choose not to use too many identifying facts about yourself on the boards?
is it to protect yourself, or others?.
for me, i have nothing to lose where the dubs are concerned, and initially my profile was pretty extensive.

My poor non-JW grandmother!! (long)
by starfish422 ini am so annoyed right now i could just spit.
first, some background info: my brother's mother-in-law (a jw) seems to feel as though she has some special connection to my gramma because they have both lost their husbands.
she's a good 10 - 15 years younger than gramma; and, truth be told, gramma doesn't especially like her.

JW marriages: happy/unhappy
by starfish422 ini've been wondering how many jws have gotten married too quickly, without knowing their prospective "mate" well enough, and have ended up really unhappy.
it always seemed to me that a couple would be dating for, like, 6 or 9 months and get engaged, have a 9 month engagement and be married; often because they bought the "no sex before marriage" garbage.
i'm sure that there *are* happy jw marriages out there; and certainly being unhappily married isn't the sole property of jws.

If your still-JW parent died...
by starfish422 inwould you attend the funeral/memorial service?
assuming that it would be held in a kh; or even if it wasn't.. this is something that's been on my mind lately; honestly, i'm not sure why.
my parents are both still relatively young; 60 and 61. my dad has been diagnosed with skin cancer but both are otherwise healthy.. i really don't know whether i would; particularly for my father.

Elders' kids - special treatment?
by starfish422 init seems to be the opinion of some on this board that elders' kids received special treatment, weren't punished for their wrongdoings, etc.. as the daughter of the po in our small congregation, let me tell you that it was much harder for me than for the kids of those who weren't elders.
our family was expected to be the "model family for displaly purposes" and we were held up to very high standards so that we didn't "stumble" anyone.
at times i wished my dad wasn't an elder so that i could have a bit more freedom.

How pathetic....
by starfish422 inwhen you think about it, how ridiculous and pathetic is the theocratic ministry school?
the dubs are so unimaginative and incapable of independent thought that they have to be spoonfed presentations.
the same goes for the "how to present the magazines..." section of the km.. i just cringe when i think about those silly little talks i used to give (sitting, of course!
