) year old daughter was at times "insolent and sneaky".

eventually, the man tortured her to death.

Society's recall of older books

does anybody remember when the wtbts ask all the congregations to bring back all the old outdated books.

i think it was in the late eighties.

there was an announcement from the podium, return old books so they could be returned to new york.. i was too lazy to go through my books and take them in.

Rumors get started this way............. Please read this thread carefully. There was no announcement to return books to the Society for destruction it was to help new KH's get their library started. I was in a KH that had 3 congregations. There were 3 libraries set up with only one library being complete back as far as Russell books. The second congregation was pretty complete, but the 3rd one was bare since it was: 1)new 2) publishers had dontated their older books to the 1st and 2nd congregations when they were members of those halls.

An announcement was made to all 3 halls regarding the need and a request to the Society for older publications was made. When we visited Bethel in London, we even brought back some older WT and Awakes! to help the library.

Should Jehovers Witnesses use Heinz 57 products?

the other night i was listening to npr on the radio while driving home and i heard a very interesting piece of information... the "57" in the heinz 57 brand came from occult sources!

the container says "heinz 57 varieties" but the number was never meant to literally mean they had 57 varieties of products, instead the numbers 5 and 7 have occult meaning.. i looked around on the internet and found these articles:.

Circuit Overseer Celebrities?

i am a active jw, but one question i would like to know is why do these 'men' get treated as superstar celebrities when they attend the congregation?.

for as long as i can remember, there seems to be a 'buzz of excitement' when it is announced that he and his wife are due to visit.

what is so special about them?.

A lot of the old timers feel they are getting a visit from "Mother" when the CO comes to visit. Might there be some 'insider' information released? Is there any new light coming down the pike?

I know some elders were anxious to have him come visit in "a corporate" sort of way --- they felt he could straighten out situations on the body of elders. Maybe the PO was running things 'his way' instead of the way the Society said.

We had one CO who used to sell things out of the back of his car! I could not believe it --- he had a camara he was trying to sell to people. I mean who is going to argue about price with a CO? Plus, I thought, did he really even pay for it? It was probably a gift in the first place, just like he would get airline miles as gifts all the time, he was the most travelled CO I had ever met!!

My position on leaving a child in a car ---- never do it!

I would not leave $1,000,000 in my car unattended, so why would I leave my daughter? If she falls asleep in the car, I pull into the garage and leave her in the car with the windows rolled down, the garage locked up and the door into the house wide open so I can hear her when she wants to get out.

She knows I don't leave her in the car because sometimes she has requested to stay in the car and I've answered, "Mommy doesn't want someone to take you baby, come on, get out." So when my ex left my 4 year old in the car, buckled in her car seat and he ran into his apartment to get something, she was madder than a wet hen and still has not forgotten it!

anyone here ever go on a cruise with a large group of JW's?

ive been on two cruises in the early 90's with large amounts of witnesses.

one cruise we had around 85 and the other 175. one night on the larger jw cruise there were 50 or so of us watching this comedian.

he started getting a little crude using words like penis so we all got up at the same time and walked out during his act.

I have met some who went on cruises with JW's and some made an extreme point of gathering together for a WT study on the Sunday of the cruise.

Hello??? Can you say vacation??? If I wanted to study my WT I would have done it on my own time.........and I was one who was inclined to really do it, but on my own schedule when I was on vacation....like at night or early morning in bed with a cup of coffee.

House Swapping

since my search function does not work, i cannot determine if this has been discussed here before.

has anyone swapped houses with another family in order to take a vacation?

i saw it on the news and it is supposedly the hot thing to do in order to save costs on hotel/car rental, etc.

You could also ask if any of your family has any unused timeshare credits. Sometimes people bank so many units its almost impossible to use them before they expire.

i'm re-reading 1984 and the similarities between the wtbs and the "party" astound me, but anyway, it made me think of the time when i started to get doubts (thoughtcrime).. i remember once at this book study a sister commented about the 1914 and was reciting it's historical accuracy.

anyway, she went on to mention that the demons were probably learning everything about biblical prophecies from the wtbs.

i was 13 at the time but the comment made me cringe, i was thinking "why would superior beings need humans to interpret the bible for them?

After I had my daughter, I knew I would risk life, limb and even my eternal life to save her or be there to protect her for as long as possible. That translated to: BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS ........ yes, I would give her one and take one myself. As parents the only way to parent is to be there to do it!!

I didn't say anything to anyone but knew in my heart I would not follow direction if need be. It was another year before I was out.
