Goodbye Joe
by Pathofthorns inprobably many of us lurk over at h20.
i have for a long time but never posted.. no doubt any who have, have read of joe mesko's passing away.. i doubt there was an online personality with so striking of a style and personality on any of the boards.
his biting sarchasm and every post with an edge to the humour in it made it an interesting and fun read.. although i don't know him, i will miss him.. goodbye joe.. pathofthorns.

Yes, I was very sorry to hear this.
I only swapped several emails with him a few months ago but always enjoyed reading his posts over at H2O and other places. He did some great research and found out a lot of interesting stuff.
I also enjoyed the chaos he caused at witness.net.
I'm sure I won't be the only one to miss him and hope that the work he has done so far can be carried on even half as well by others.
Goodbye Joe. -

Why all the talk about us, when we have offered you the information.
I can't remember you offering us the information...I remember a sales pitch though.
If you are to afraid to order it or to cheap to investigate something that has warranted this long discussion, why don't you just order it?
That's how cons work - they have you think that they are selling something you want (such as valuable information) when in realit, they are not. Maybe we're afraid of being ripped off?
We are not in this for the money, but it does cost to distribute it.
May I suggest that if you are sincere when you say that you are not in it for the money that you put the information on a web site. That ensures the widest possible distribution for the least cost. There are lots of free hosting services about and even the pay ones are real cheap now.
I agree with Zep...it sounds very like a cult. Almost like someone is trying to take advantage of people who are at a vulnerable stage in their life and are searching for something, maybe willing to fork out $16 even - the kind of thing that the JWs do in fact!Again if you want to just read it the ordering info is below
Yes, that was it...the sales pitch.

The whole point of eBooks is that you read them on the computer or Pocket PC etc.. it kinds of defeats the object if we print them out !
I'm still waiting for my new iPaq to arrive...no doubt Angharad will borrow it to test the Reader software -

I think the whole thing of 'leaving mankind to it to prove that he can't rule himself' argument is pretty flawed as well.
Acording to the bible, mankind seemed to be getting along pretty well, all united and stuff until Jehovah mixed up the languages thus causing divisions and eventually nationalism. Is this any kind of fair test ?
Again, the bible records continuing interferance in human affairs and manipulation of people and history which I would argue would make claim that there was evidence that man couldn't rule himself inadmissable.
Not least of all, Satan and his demons were apparently cast down to earth. Gee, thanks a lot God.
If Jehovah iis so loving and forgiving, why couldn't he just have forgiven Adam and Eve or at least their children?
It sounds more like a story to explain where we come from told by scientifically ignorant and superstitious people who had no better explanation. -

Is there Intelligent life ?
by Simon intwo questions:.
do you think there is intelligent life on other planets?.
do you think there is intelligent life on earth?

I've been reading some interesting books which go tbhrough the probabilities of life evolving (based on creationist arguments), the number of galaxies, stars and planets and the conclusion is that life on other planets isn't just a possibility it more likely a certainty. There should be thousands or millions in fact!
The problem is finding them ! -

Yes, I did a lot of reading so that I could put together my JW Timeline. There is still a lot of stuff I want to add to it but as always, getting the time is difficult.
I've not really read much fiction for a long time. I used to read a lot of Isac Asimov and stuff like that but I'm usually up to my neck with technical computing manuals now but I do like to read other things about archeology etc... I guess I'm getting a bit lazy - I rely on TV for my fiction now. Angharad has turned into an avid reader - she goes through books in no time and she's going to get some Anne Rice ones after the recomendations.
BTW: Has anyone read the eBooks that Stephen King has done? I downloaded all the stuff for Angharad and she thought they were good. -
