  the beard story!!

  i still go to meetings sometimes.

  yesterday a young brother was complaining to me about the elders.

  they didn't like his new, well cared, beard.

  If Jesus came back now, he wouldn't be allowed to give talks in our circuit...not with all his facial growth.
  When I was little I always used to wonder why beards were wrong if God made us have them.
  Obviously, I didn't personally have a beard when I was little.
  I would have been in a circus.

  I did grow a beard though once. Just not then.

  Is hockey, like, 'popular' or something?
  We just watch football over here...that's football that you play with your feet, not what Americans call 'football' which they really play with their hands.
  Guys: I'm only teasing - I know didley squat about hockey other than there always seems to be a big fight - it seems more like team boxing really.

  crisis of conscience,gtr, and all the rest etc.

  i just recieved getile times by coj...i ordered it 2 months ago when i was full into analysing dub doctrine...but since then, i just dont care anymore about dub doctrine or refuting it...but its still an interesting read though.i'm going through it v e r y s l o w l y..... has anyone else read some books from here: [url]www.commentarypress.com[/url].

  "in search of christian freedom" looks interesting?...sign of the last days?...dont all xdubs have to read coc...isn't it a sort of right of passage for you guys?..

  Yes, it does not seem at all unreasonable to me that ANYONE who claims to be speaking for God himself should expect (and welcome) any kind of scrutiny. If they are what they say they are then surely it would show them to be such.
  Refusing to be subject to such scrutiny would, in my humble opinion, severely discredit their claims.

  BTW: I hope no one takes my post to mean that I belittle the hurt caused by child abuse or that an abusers-being-abused in any way excuses what they do. It was just an example of how those who suffer can then sometimes go on to cause the same suffering to others.

  Seven...thanks for passing over my poor spelling and waiting - thanks for pointing out my poor spelling. English is like a second language to me...unfortunately it's also the only one I know .
  I understand the 'followers of followers' and 'victims of victims' thing (like most child abusers were abused?) but people are still responsible for what THEY do and for carrying on the practices. Maybe the information available now will at least change peoples attitudes so that things will be different in 2, 3, 5, 10, 20 years or whenever. Anf if it doesn't, the european human rights legislation is almost certain to make them change their behaviour.

  to all, in my search for the truth i have found it.

  necessary to carefully examine things from a non christian perspective.

  i have visited many jewish websites and have become quite disillusioned by what i've read.

  I think anyone who claims to speak for God automatically excludes themselves as being considered for such a role.
  I think you have to be skeptical of what anyone says...even skeptics. It's important to verify what anyone tries to teach you and even if you can't tell if it's right or not (ie. can YOU translate hebrew?) you can maybe tell whether their assertions are reasonable or not. And whether they have anything to gain.
  It's funny. God always tell's people that we have to do what they say, give them out money etc... never the other way round. Why is that?

  That is a brilliant synopsis Path.
  I guess the general feeling is that these books are useful in providing a certain amount of information but once you have enough to prove to yourself what is and isn't 'the truth' then there is no reason to read all the others except for acedemic interest.
  I've read 'em all. Does that make me sad or obsesive or something ?
  I just read a lot. Honest.
