Using their reasoning, I suppose it would be ok to eat human lesh to sustain yourself as long as you didn't have to murder anyone, but you could not take blood from a willing donor.
What a mess.
watchtower on taking in meat .
today i added a new article to my blog addressing an underpinning of watchtowers blood doctrine, and how in 1980 this underpinning was undermined by none other than watchtower itself.
as it turns out watchtower admits that prior to the flood there was no prohibition against taking in meat, which as it turns out means there was no pre-flood prohibition against taking in blood.
Using their reasoning, I suppose it would be ok to eat human lesh to sustain yourself as long as you didn't have to murder anyone, but you could not take blood from a willing donor.
What a mess.

Ravens, you have gotten sage advise and here is the redux.
CALM DOWN. I believe in God too, but jumping to another religion isn't the answer. If you want to continue, pray and you could probably reach out to believers here if you want to get a "gathering yourselves together" fix. Remember, Jesus said that whenever there were 2 or more gathered in his name, he would be with them. The phone, e mail, all included. So calm down.
REFUSE. When someone wants to know why you aren't at meetings, you are acting like you only have 2 choices. You either lie, or confess your undying apostacy. Well the other option RARELY CONSIDERED BY THE ENDOCTRINATED.....is that you can jsut say i would rather not talk about it....but I apprecaite your concern. It is the truth, it is not a lie. You maintain your sense of integrity, and what small control you are building in your life.
RESIST. Resist the urge to get into war with your wife. Treat her better than you would, proving to her you are not a piece of scum simply because you have questioned the religion of your youth.
Telling them to piss off and blowing up your life and marriage over this may or may not bring you peace. For some it does, for many more it does not. For me, it definitly would not.
One of the most freeing thigns I ever did was tell an elder (a real jerk I mean the absolute worst kind of elder), that I would not meet with him. We had had several meetings, and he wanted another one. I told him I wasn't interested. He was not used to being told no. But what could he do? He sat there stewing. He simply had no concept of not being "obeyed". A switch went on in my head. If the better buisness beureu calls my office and wants to meet with me to sign me up for their services.....do I have to do that? No! I tell people no in my buisness all the time. i don't have time, I'm not interested, I don't want that, I have no need for your services........so why when an elder wanted me to show up on a weekend in full garb, could I not get yes out of my mouth fast enough?
I realized i had been conditioned....and that was the beginning of the end of that conditioning. I'm still working on it.
i happened to come across this case today: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/wooley_v._maynard.
"george maynard and his wife, followers of the jehovah's witnesses faith, viewed the motto as repugnant to their moral, religious, and political beliefs, and for this reason they covered up the motto [live free or die] on the license plates of their jointly owned family automobiles.".
it appears this guy kept getting fined by the local cops for covering up the license plate motto!
Live free or die, but you can't have the freedom to cover those words.
Hilarious.
what do you guys think of preppers?
i have been watching doomsday preppers on natgeo (it's just a trainwreck, i can't stop watching) and while those guys are a joke, i think have a few weeks worth of supplies and water on had is a good idea (tornadoes, hurricane, freak snow/ice storm, etc.).
however, prepping years worth of food, 5000 rounds of ammo per gun, building a fortified bunker.... what for?
FIRST.....Did JW's actually ever teach that you got the mark of the beast by voting? Someone said that but I would really like a refference to an article or something.
On EP's comments - These people are building bunkers, stocking up on MREs, canning meat, buying surplus medical equipment, as many guns as they can get their hands on, etc. I think they are loons. The funniest ones are the ones that think Obama is somehow going to cause all of this and are saying they will refuse to help any of the leeches and takers that voted for him. Somehow a lot of this gets tied into politics.
I totally agree. I think people thrive when they have something to believe in right around the corner (see the religion of our youth), and this is no different. it gives them momentary purpose. i also suspect lack of education, fear mongering on the part of some, and generally a high suceptibility to right wing radio. :) The show is funny. I am sure when Dec 21st comes around and nothing happens, they will still be on high alert for a while. What a mess.

Hey there Arboles,
You may not mean it this way, but I would be careful to automatically associate being ethical with stepping down. i think there are so many unique circumstances at play, it is hard to draw an ethics line for everyone. Even in your post, you think it would have been better for a couple people to not tell the truth do they could make a dent. I am sure locally some brothers may feel the same way.
jw states: since the apostles made mistakes, it is okay for us to make mistakes as well".
is it the logical fallacy of "two wrongs make a right"?
the apostles were directed by god, the governing body is not.
This is a SUPER common reaction, and it STILL gets me off guard.
Apostles made mistakes, first century congregations had major issues, they were still the only game in town to "incite to love and fine works" and of course to preach.
So the typical response, is that the unique mix of JW's belief system, along with the idea they are the only ones preaching this unique belief system, means it is ok they make mistakes. In fact....its great! Better to change something that to just continue along with it like other religions do!
(smh)
i have seen debates and shizzle about god or not god etc etc.. i was even confronted by an aggressive and trheatening muslim in the street, who was angry that i wanted proof that god existed.
he ranted on a load of old b0110cks about 'hell' and stuff.
finally he yelled at me: 'do you want god to write your name in the sky?
^^^^^absense of anything known or unknown.
Just my personal definition for the purpose of this I guess. Not that hard to understand, yet impossible to conceptualize.

The beard would do it!
So is anyone here an elder still, simply for the sake of this community? I had thought about taking one for the team.
im out eating with a friend who is a nonbaptized jw ,he told me his grandfather who is an elder ,that im apostate.
i went down and talk to this elder about two weeks ago he called me ask how i was , i went down and showed him old light and new light about fds.
i was very respectful.
Yeah I love it when an elder is slandering you, it isn't really slander. Its just confidential talk "elder to elder". Unbelieveable.
now i know that there are some here that can supply plenty of documented proof as to the hatred inciting teachings of the past presidents and the now rulling governing body in the literature they export world wide.. any former member who has changed his mind and no longer excepts these hate inspireing teachings of the governing body is labeled "mentally diseased" meaning these people are to be avoided because they have a catchy mental malfunction that is deadly.. all governments are controlled by an invisible master mind who has only evil intentions and is leading the vast majority of the human race to thier destruction.
and thier followers are encouraged to hate what jehovah hates and jehovah hates all the governments of the earth includeing isreal and even the united nations of which they are members as an ngo.. in russia thier literature is rightly ban because it is reccognized as hatred inspireing.
(no shit sherlock!).
Can you guys honestly say you think that individual JW's "hate other religions" without throwing out the occasional loony as a tune person int he car group?
Lets be honest about this. The bible ITSELF doesn't paint a very rosey picture for the unbeliever. What is the difference when groups feel the same way about their interpretation of the bible?
There are plenty of religions that believe that JW's are going to hell. Is that any different than what JW's concept of the final day will be? I mean.....not really.
I just don't see this going anywhere.
