i've been reading and posting over at the jehovah's witnesses challenge & critique section of the mega-religion site beliefnet.
the moderator (a jw) is starting to get her undies in a bundle over some of the posts!
i think it would be cool if some others from here would go over there and rattle the cage a little.

I found that the easiest way is to have a good knowledge of the Bible and do NOT allow the caller to change the subject under discussion.
After they have tied themselves in knots for a while trying to fit their beliefs into your quotes, they will then have to ' rush off to a prior appointment' and you will get some peace.
Be aware though, that they will next send an elder who supposedly has a greater Bible knowledge, but these are as easy to deal with, because they do not study the Bible, they study watchtower publications, which are just thier 'interpretations' of the Bible, and are governing body based, not bible based.
This should work, it did for me and for friends that I have advised.

I posted the above, I hope it is subtle enough.

more on religion from the fruit of sixy's loins:.
{hint: while it's a bit of trouble, it is worth the effort to go ahead and pronounce out "fishishishinardian" at least once before reading this through}.
most of these people went to the local fascinard.

for decades i heard people say "if i was an elder,i would change this or i wouldn't allow that.brothers and sisters alike would always try to get the ear of an elder so as to enact a particular cause.everybody has their own pet peeves in a congregation.
knowing what you know now, if as an elder you could make a major change in the congregation or organization, what difference would you make?.....this is hypothetical so it can be answered by male or female.
I would enforce a system whereby the needs of the congregation, not the company, came first.
After all any organisation is worth nothing without the people in it.

on august 29, 2001, i stumbled upon a web site like no other i have ever found in cyberspace, and i have been hooked ever since.
the purpose of this thread is to say thank you to everybody for your help, advice, and support, for putting up w/ my craziness, and entertaining my fluff w/ your replies.
when i first posted here, with that 'relatives and relationships' thread, i was overwhelmed by the responses i got from people who really cared and wanted to help me.
Thats the true meaning of the word Christian Lara.

each successor to the watchtower estate from rutherford onward has virtually reformed the organization.. rutherford was an attorney for the society and court judge.
like modern-day reformers he didn't like the direction the watchtower was going, and staged a corporate takeover.
chaos reigned at bethel when the brothers split into two religions.
Wow! This is great!
I am really looking foreward to telling the next jw that comes to my door that I am studying with the 'mother organisation' and do not believe in 'splinter groups'.

i just wanted to say hello and that i think it's nice to find a place where i can express myself if/when i need/want to, although i feel pretty timid about posting.
Welcome Nilfun!
Don't be shy, dive in and enjoy! Have a good time.

jehovah's witnesses are hereby set free by these words in the bible:.
"if a prophet speaks in the name of the lord and what he says does not come true, then it is not the lord's message.
that prophet has spoken out of his own authority, and you are not to fear him.
JW's have always been free by those words.
They just refuse to accept it.

but i finally posted my bio, if anyone wants to read it.

its taken as certain by most that the new world translaion is the work of fred franz.. now there are some funny expresions and words he chose to use in that translaion , that most people dont normaly use.but these words and expresions have been turned into catch-phrases by the witnesse, did he choose certain words when others wold have been more accurate in order to do this?
(the expression jehovahs witnesses had already been taken from the bible and used as a "special" phrase).
i wonder more though, did old franz choose these words insead of more common expresions in order to use them to deliberatly make some parts of the bible you woldn't normally link?for example the use of the word time or times in daniel, luke and revelation.is it really the same word that is used in tthe original language or could it be translated a different way, but "times" was used to make the link between them so it would fit in with their ideas on prophecy?are more instances of this in the new world translation?
It seems to me that the changes were deliberate for two reasons.
1. The 'bible' then fits the wt teaching.
2. (probably more important) the wt then owns the copyright on the new 'translation' and therefore does not have to pay royalties for printing and distributing.
