  Child Abuse must be getting out of hand if they're addressing it...

  i'm referring to the video that was uploaded where they finally mentioned the child abuse issue.

  we all kinda guessed that if they ever addressed it they'd blame it on the media and apostates.

  This is probably the one and only issue that might give me some leverage with the wife. I fully intend on showing her this from jw.org (she is getting a tablet soon) and ask her this question: if it is not an issue, why are they talking about it?

  Freudian slip in this weeks WT study!

  oh....ok....hahaha...did anyone else pick up on this classic stuff up in the wt for the weekend of 21/22 feb?.

  after speaking about the destruction of sodom and gomorrah, paragraph 6 says:.

  "only lot and his daughters, who stuck close to him, survived".

  I'm guessing they were actually pregnant before the actual destruction (they had boyfriends, right?) or got knocked up by the visiting angels (2 angels, 2 daughters). They were probably pretty hot! Remember angels like earthly sex. Then later they made up the story about Lot. What could he say?

  Regarding the doubters about where the wine came from - they were probably spirit-directed to a cave where lots of wine was being stored (cave = cool temps). Of course, all of this was evidently either approved or condoned by JHVH.

  can there really be any doubt now on how commercial it is?

  if you thought the new kh design seemed commercial in nature, now imagine one of those halls turned into a jw store.

  Why are JW talks & publications never uplifting?

  i was sitting at the meeting the other night and for the first time it hit, jw talks or magazines are never uplifting!

  i rarely, if ever hear a talk or read a magazines and have it give nothing but praise to jehovahs servants or just praise jehovah and jesus throughout it.

  they never just a read through the bible or just a bible story explained or told.

  On the flip side, I heard my still-JW wife telling my mother on Skype recently that she really feels alive again going back to work in the city once a week, She is a massage therapist.  Recently she has been doing a lot of cross-training She always gets lots of postive feedback from her clients and students. I hope the office she is working with now continues to be successful.

  She never comes back from the meetings with anything but: the friends (some of them) said they miss you. She is currently attending less than 50% of the meetings, but she does go out in service once or twice a week,. I wonder when she is going to get an invitation for some counsel about being regular?

  you don't have to know much to talk to jw's and show them they don't want to really discuss the matters.they consider a discussion on the matter they are pushing to be "confrontational.".

  Brilliant work Alex (voice behind the video). The scary thing for me was how well trained the 'Trolley Cart Supervisor' was. Move away, move away. Why? And Alex wasn't even that confrontational. In other words, don't ask questions (that we don't like).

  i never thought i would be commenting, let alone starting a new topic in the category of bible research and study.

  anyone reading my comments on this site would have realised that i am the most unspiritual person to have ever stepped foot inside a kh.

  yet for the first time in my life, on saturday night, i did some meaningful bible study/research, on my own without a wtbts publication in sight, except the nwt bible.

  @little_Socrates: you never hear about it because it never happens! If it did, Fox News would be talking about it for weeks on end.But, I do agree with you that laws are not the answer. Something is fundamentally wrong with the culture.

  Nice way to frame the issue Simon! I haven't been in the states for several years, but my first thought was: what kind of country has it become where people feel it is normal to be armed when going shopping? Here in Poland, besides criminals, only military, police or hunters have weapons. I could get one if I went thru the required training, screening, paperwork, etc - but I don't feel the need. Death by guns here is orders of magnitudes different than in the US (for some reason) and 30% of the ones we have are suicide related.
  

  When I go to Tesco (Walmart equivalent) to buy some dog food, the last thing on my mind is: where is my heat?
